They Cannot Take Away What God Has Brought You Through (2/27/2016)

Hello, everyone. I hope yall have had an awesome month. If you think not, then you haven't considered the Breath of Life that Yahweh has blessed you with. I'm feeling a whole lot better since our last fellowship. I took a break from my workouts until my breathing and back had improved, and my practitioner provided me with some medication to assist in my complete healing. Thanks for your support and prayers during that time. I encourage you to always read the Scripture of the Week (SOW) in its entirety. Though some sections are typically unchanging, it effectively covers significant information that is worth reading; skipping sections may cause you to miss the intended message Yahweh is trying to convey to you or the person you share this with. PRAYER REQUESTS: I have unspoken prayer requests for me and my household... please keep us in prayer and continue to pray for one another as the Spirit leads, thanking Yahweh for the victory while refraining from confessing the problem caused by the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome (refer to the book The Tongue – A Creative Force, by Charles Capps). ANNOUNCEMENTS: A REMINDER that tomorrow is my non-profit organization's meeting at 3:30 PM, it's not too late to RSVP if you're interested in sharing your ideas and solutions to addressing community issues. I am still in NEED of SERIOUS and DEDICATED volunteers and, more importantly, board members for my non-profit organization, Fostering Mind, Body, and Soul Incorporated (FMBS Inc.). Volunteers are vital to the success of any community service based organization, so I encourage you to join my team or, at least, volunteer somewhere and/or join an executive board. Without our volunteers, non-profit organizations would not be successful. The reason FMBS Inc. has been on hiatus is because of the lack of participation from volunteers and board members. Our need is DIRE and immediate; we need committed board members as well as volunteers so that we can get out of this rut before we lose our 501(c)(3) status. Non-profit organizations are NOT mere hobbies founded and operated by individuals, they are actual vital businesses that are dependent on the participation of their volunteers and board members. As a whole, the founders, CEO's, volunteers and board members work together to establish and implement programs that effectively benefit our communities. Otherwise, with a lack of truly committed team members, these businesses will remain unproductive, or will fail in their endeavors. It is only so much that one individual can do alone; it takes a team of people to make an impact. This is YOUR OPPORTUNITY to give back. Your continued support is beyond appreciated.

HEALTHY LIVING TIPS:
Change begins within… Seeing as how our country seems to have the highest rate of obesity, I think it's my duty to encourage people to live a healthy lifestyle. I've always wanted to be a wife and mother, and with that I know comes some weight gain. However, I have always vowed that I refuse to let myself get so out of shape that I am disappointed with my looks, yet so far gone that I feel there's no point in trying. Here's the deal, there is such thing as "too late," but that comes at the point of no return - death. That means that if you do not like what you see in the mirror, if you are tired of being called fat or plus-sized, if you want to fit into smaller clothing, then it's time for YOU to DO SOMETHING about it. Don't make excuses because "the only bad workout is the one you didn't do" (http://Hasfit.com). Pick a routine or switch it up to keep it fresh and new so you don't get bored with it; the key is to choose routines that you can stick to. Now you don't have to try this link I'm about to list, you can YouTube tons of FREE workouts you can do at home, and figure out which ones fit your comfort level and desires. You can also invest in DVD's, or just get up and run, briskly walk, swim, dance, or research some exercise moves and create your own routine. Here are some of my suggestions: http://Hasfit.com (includes FREE workout programs, FREE varieties of single workout routines for different intensity levels, and FREE meal plans); For women, I recommend DVD's by Cindy Whitmarsh (reasonable prices online, and 10-minute routines [10 Minute Solution-Target Toning] that can be done alone or selected in groups to create a customized workout, perfect for the busy woman); For men, I recommend checking out Mike Chang's workout videos (featured video is actually a co-ed Six Pack Shortcuts: Spring Break Abs & Core Workout at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n25mT7zDJU); For the hard charger, invest in Tony Horton's P90X or Shawn T's Insanity workout. The only thing holding you back is YOU. Like Nike, "just do it."

BE ENCOURAGED: NEVER lose sight of God in the midst of adversity Ponder this: "Your best teacher is your last mistake" (Ralph Nader). SHOW your gratitude for God by spending more time with Him. After all, we are supposed to be scheduling our lives around Him, not the other way around. Whether you receive your information from a theological scholar, a pastor, or an expert of God's word, I urge you NEVER to take someone else's word, even mine for that matter, as solid truth; "Study to show thyself approved" (II Timothy 2:15), and CHALLENGE EVERYTHING by comparing it to the Word of God. If what you see, hear or read does NOT fall in line with the Word of God, then it is NOT truth... The rest of this day isn't promised, let alone tomorrow, so why not strengthen your faith TODAY? Feed your body healthy nutrition, be cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.) so that YOU can start anew and become a better you NOW, not later. Have a blessed rest of the week.

Yahweh (God), please clear our minds and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Yeshua (Jesus), Amen!
PASSAGE – JOHN 9:19-41 (NLT):
"They asked them,"'Is this your son? Was he born blind? If so, how can he now see?'" His parents replied, "We know this is our son and that he was born blind, but we don’t know how he can see or who healed him. Ask him. He is old enough to speak for himself." His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had announced that anyone saying Jesus was the Messiah would be expelled from the synagogue. That’s why they said, "He is old enough. Ask him." So for the second time they called in the man who had been blind and told him, "God should get the glory for this, because we know this man Jesus is a sinner." "I don’t know whether He is a sinner," the man replied. "But I know this: I was blind, and now I can see!" "But what did He do?" they asked. "How did He heal you?" "Look!" the man exclaimed. "I told you once. Didn’t you listen? Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become His disciples, too?" Then they cursed him and said, "You are His disciple, but we are disciples of Moses! We know God spoke to Moses, but we don’t even know where this man comes from." "Why, that’s very strange!" the man replied. "He healed my eyes, and yet you don’t know where He comes from? We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but He is ready to hear those who worship Him and do His will. Ever since the world began, no one has been able to open the eyes of someone born blind. If this man were not from God, He couldn’t have done it." "You were born a total sinner!" they answered. "Are you trying to teach us?" And they threw him out of the synagogue.'"

***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible***
REFLECTIONS: People may try to question our faith - why we believe in God when we've never seen Him or witnessed tangible evidence of His authority. Yet, we continue to base our faith on what we've been raised to believe in the Church - what the Bible tells us about His works; we "walk by faith and not by sight" (II Corinthians 5:7, KJV) because our "faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1, KJV). Yet, there's always, at least, one antagonist trying to debate and argue to discredit our attribution of God having blessed us. Instead, they would like to insist that any "blessing" has a logical explanation. For instance, your promotion at work wasn't a blessing from God, it was your hard work and dedication that got you that advance. Or perhaps they'd like to reason that your seat belt is what saved your life when your car ran into a building and was totaled, yet you walked away from that incident unscathed. However, it is your faith - your relationship with the Lord - that allows your spirit to KNOW that it is NOT without God that you have gotten through (refer to John 5:19 and Galatians 6:3). No matter how much the adversary tries to convince you that Yahweh is not behind your blessings, and no matter how much your antagonists try to discredit your faith, they cannot take away what God has brought you through.

The man in this passage was born blind, so even if he were present to witness Yeshua's miracles firsthand, he still wouldn't have been able to account for anything aside from what the others around him had described. However, Yeshua healed the man and blessed him with sight. The Pharisees and Jewish leaders tried to discredit His work by suggesting a man who heals on the Sabbath cannot be of God and must be a "sinner" (refer to John 9:14, 24). Yet, the man knew not that Yeshua was Messiah, nor was he aware of His authority or many miracles. But when he was told to obey and wash the mud from his eyes, he IMMEDIATELY did as he was instructed and the sense of sight was blessed upon him for the first time (refer to John 9:6-7). Even after the Pharisees and Jewish leaders attempted to defame Yeshua's character, still without knowing who was behind his blessing, the blind man's faith insisted that only a man of God could heal. He admonished them that "He healed my eyes, and yet you don’t know where He comes from? We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but He is ready to hear those who worship Him and do His will. Ever since the world began, no one has been able to open the eyes of someone born blind. If this man were not from God, He couldn’t have done it" (John 9:30-33, NLT). The blind man did NOT have to know much more than who had healed him before he gathered himself to follow. Just the same as the blind man in this passage, whatever it is that your faith tells you is Godsent, NO ONE can take away what God has brought you through.

Your faith is just that - YOURS. Allow your walk to be in blind faith because it is the Lord who advises us that "blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed" (John 20:29, KJV). Therefore, the adversary, the enemy, your loved ones - they cannot take away what Yahweh has brought you through.
POWER IN PRAYER: Yahweh, we thank you for life, health, and strength. Thank you for providing the courage and strength we need to remove the guilt we've placed on self, and for removing every negative thought that has held us captive in our own minds. Lord, please address all the individual prayers of our hearts, for you know our need better than we know our own; whether spoken or unspoken, intercede and say a prayer on our behalf, so that our Father in Heaven may receive and address our specific plea. We thank you for transforming our image into one that mirrors Jesus so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. Thanks for blessing each of us with a double portion of your Spirit, and for closing every unnecessary door that is open in our lives. Thanks for opening supernatural doors to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness. We thank you for providing each of us with the clear and concise revelations we need in order to overcome the adversary. Please continue to help us see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation, and for discernment to know the difference between your will vs. our own desires. We take back everything the enemy has stolen from us, and bind every evil and malicious plot, plan and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus. We grant your angels permission to do our bidding on earth and thank you for protecting us from reproach. For everyone and everything we have failed to pray for, we ask that you do not fail to address the concern. This is our affirmation of faith Yahweh, we submit our petition to you, and claim all these things in the matchless name of Yeshua, Amen!

What's Your Sacrifice? (2/22/2016)

Hello, everyone. Oh my goodness, I realized last night as I was saying my prayers, that I failed to send out the SOW this weekend. I apologize for that everyone. I guess in the midst of taking a break from exercise due to a bout of bronchitis, on top of a pulled back muscle, I failed to utilize my time effectively this weekend. So this week, you'll be getting an SOW during the week as well as one for the week's end. I encourage you to always read the Scripture of the Week (SOW) in its entirety. Though some sections are typically unchanging, it effectively covers significant information that is worth reading; skipping sections may cause you to miss the intended message Yahweh is trying to convey to you or the person you share this with. PRAYER REQUESTS: Continue to pray for one another as the Spirit leads, thanking Yahweh for the victory while refraining from confessing the problem caused by the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome (refer to the book The Tongue – A Creative Force, by Charles Capps). ANNOUNCEMENTS: I am still in NEED of SERIOUS and DEDICATED volunteers and, more importantly, board members for my non-profit organization, Fostering Mind, Body, and Soul Incorporated (FMBS Inc.). It is only so much that one individual can do alone; it takes a team of people to make an impact. FMBS Inc. has a meeting THIS SUNDAY, February 28, 2016, in Los Angeles at 3:30 PM. If you would like to attend this meeting, be sure to RSVP by Thursday, the 18th, so that I can make sure everyone is accommodated; your ideas, suggestions for solutions to community issues, and consideration for positions on the board and as volunteers, will all be discussed. We pray that this meeting will be a fresh start for our organization to make a noticeable impact in our communities. This is YOUR OPPORTUNITY to give back. Your continued support is beyond appreciated.

HEALTHY LIVING TIPS:
Change begins within… "It can be overwhelming to decide how to magically change your life for 2016 -- so don’t. Instead, test-drive these simple healthy habits that are doable, approachable, but will still make a big difference in your well-being. You can do anything for one day. And if something works for you, keep it going! Take a nap. Dr. Robert Oexman, director of The Sleep To Live Institute, says "'Napping can help with the feeling of exhaustion from not getting enough nighttime sleep. It helps you process your emotions so you not only think better but you feel better after a nap.'" Dr. Oexman recommends napping for 30 minutes to feel refreshed, not groggy. Move all your healthy snacks to eye level. "'Rearranging your cupboards can be very helpful when it comes to making healthy snacks your default go-to option,'" according to Molly Morgan, RD for Nuts.com. "'Keep your healthy snack picks at eye-level in the cupboard and keep the more indulgent snacks out of sight...'" Stand, don't sit. Sitting for long periods of time can’t be fixed with an hour at the gym, and increases the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Keep fruit on the countertop. "'This will help you stay full while providing you with important vitamins and minerals," says Amy Gorin, MS, RDN, New York City-based dietitian. "'... Studies show that keeping fruit visible leads to eating more of it.'" Snack like the stars for a day. "'Almonds make for a great on-the-go convenient snack. Their combination of protein, fiber & healthy fat will stave off hunger for hours! Plus, they're perfect to throw in your backpack or purse or car.'" Pasternak recommends adding sliced almonds to your salads, smoothies, and even soups to make a light meal more filling, and add a dash of healthy fat in the process. If you have to sit, practice good posture. Sitting, while not ideal, is the reality of many of our work days. Slouching makes it worse. A study found that good posture tells your brain you’re in a stance of power, which increases testosterone for a confidence boost while lowering the stress hormone cortisol. Spend a day focusing on your posture, stacking your spine, relaxing your neck and shoulders" (Moon, M. (2015, December 29). One healthy thing to do every day of each month. Livestrong.com. PASSAGE – MATTHEW 19:14-24 (NLT):
"Someone came to Jesus with this question: "'Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?'" "Why ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. But to answer your question—if you want to receive eternal life, keep the commandments." "Which ones?" the man asked. And Jesus replied: "You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself." "I’ve obeyed all these commandments," the young man replied. "What else must I do?" Jesus told him, "'If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.'"

***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible***
REFLECTIONS: Everyone has a level of "success" they are striving for; success varies from person to person, ranging from achieving a specific career path to raising the ideal family, to earning a degree or several degrees, or being successful at being unsuccessful (using - rather abusing the system). Nonetheless, with true success, comes sacrifice; success does NOT come without pain and suffering. Remember the saying, "there are NO elevators to success, ONLY steps?" You ever go mountain climbing or try to climb the Santa Monica Stairs or the stairs in D.C., better known as the "exorcist steps" (scenes from the Exorcist movie were filmed there)? On your first attempt, were the steep slopes easy? I recall being stationed in Maryland and it was snowing outdoors, so we had p.t. (physical training) indoors; we had to climb up and down the steps for I think it was like 5-8 floors. I honestly don't recall how many floors we had to climb, but I was exhausted half way through the climb and was almost certain that I would've preferred suffering trying to run in the snow. But would a snow run have proved to be less grueling? Regardless, I was subjected to exercise in less than ideal circumstances, and whether in the snow or up the floors of steps, I bore sweat and tears - pain and suffering - sacrifice. What's your sacrifice?

In Matthew 19:14-24 (NLT), we see how a wealthy man felt worthy of eternal life for his keeping Yahweh's commandments. However, we witness Yeshua stop the man in his tracks by presenting him with a sacrifice. He tells the wealthy man to "go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me" (verse 21). If you follow the chapter a bit further, you'll see how the man was sad because he was so attached to his many possessions, and he did not want to make that sacrifice (verse 22). We also see how Yeshua explains to the disciples that it is harder for "a rich person" to make it into the Kingdom (verse 23) than it is for "a camel to go through the eye of a needle" (verse 24). This passage isn't merely speaking to the rich and wealthy, rather, this passage should hit home to any of us struggling with giving up something Yahweh has placed upon our hearts to part ways with. He isn't sending a message to everyone with money to sell everything they own to give to the poor, but HE IS telling each of us that IF or WHEN HE does call on us to make such a sacrifice, we should be as willing as Abraham was to sacrifice his only son, because our faith and reverence is that strong and obedient to Yahweh's call. What's your sacrifice?

So what's your sacrifice? What is it that God - Yahweh - has been urging you to let go of, but like the rich man, you are hesitant because you have become so attached to your worldly pleasures? True sacrifice is painful and it's a struggle, but it ensures a positive future; the God-driven sacrifices we make on earth will dictate our future of eternal life - Heaven - our pain and suffering will also ensure a positive future for generations to come. Our children and their children are influenced by who we are and what we sacrifice today, much like African Americans and women now have rights that were totally unheard of centuries ago; women gained the right to vote in 1920 while the Voting Rights Act of 1965 granted Blacks that liberty. Yet, it was NOT because Congress came to their senses and merely decided to grant women and Blacks voting rights, it was because of the groups of people who came together in a fight for suffrage; whether in agreement or not it is through the unity, pain, and suffering from movements such as Women's Suffrage, Civil Rights, Anti-war, Gay Rights, and the Labor Movement, that has paved the way for equal rights for all Americans. Through such movements, there were many lives lost, fighting for a battle that was not only their own but a battle that extended to generations to come; through the actions of these movements, our generations today experience the positive outcomes from the sacrifices made by those who acted before us. True, the government would rather people keep their mouths closed about controversial topics while Satan could care less. However, what Satan does want us to do is to sit still rather than take action in correcting issues that secure a positive future - eternal life. We can talk about the struggle, talk about God's Gospel, and talk about other controversial and/or political issues all we want, but until we SACRIFICE - ACT FOR THE CAUSE -  our words are spoken in vain, just as faith without works is dead; James 2:14-16 (NLT) says "What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, "Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well"—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?'" Yahweh expects us to DO SOMETHING - SACRIFICE; "True faith transforms our conduct as well as our thoughts. If our lives remain unchanged, we don't truly believe the truths [God's Word] we claim to believe" (Tyndale House Publishers. (2004). James. Life Application Study Bible: King James Version: Notes 2:14 (pp. 1889). Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.). The movements that founded equal rights, would NOT have succeeded without individuals who truly believed in the cause they set out to fight for. As we think and pray, we should be listening to God's voice and making the corresponding sacrifices; there are consequences for everything we do outside of God's will, that is why it is ONLY GOD who can protect us from the reproach that comes along with our obedience to Him. What's your sacrifice and when will you obey?
POWER IN PRAYER: Yahweh, we thank you for life, health, and strength. Thank you for providing the courage and strength we need to remove the guilt we've placed on self, and for removing every negative thought that has held us captive in our own minds. Lord, please take away our desire to engage in bad things, and place in us a stronger aspiration and willingness to accept and abide by your will. Change our hearts and renew our minds, so that when things are going bad, we do not forget your promise. We thank you for transforming our image into one that mirrors Jesus so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. Thanks for blessing each of us with a double portion of your Spirit, and for closing every unnecessary door that is open in our lives.
