You only have one Father (11/6/2021)

SALUTATIONS: What's up yall? I know some of yall are probably tired of the inconsistency with these SOWs, but let me tell you, so am I. God's still working on me. I appreciate your patience with my pruning process. A lot has gone on since we last met. Rona's ugly face is still everywhere, establishing unwanted new norms. I lost hella family members back-to-back to various ailments, none covid-related, however. I endured a case of inexplicable, painful, itchy cystic acne that covered my entire lower face and kept me awake at night for over two months. But on the up-and-up, I published my first children's book; it's available for purchase online (details will be in the Announcements). A former shipmate is working on the illustrations for the 2nd children's book; out of six already hand-written, I plan to publish the 2nd using a traditional publisher as I did with the 1st. I wrote a 7th children's book that I plan to self-publish soon, just searching for an illustrator for that project. I've also completed several training courses to enhance my impact.

Lastly, I am working on the 1st installment of books for teens and adults to assist in their spiritual and emotional healing process. So, I've been busy. However, I am always thinking about yall and my 1st assignment from God - this ministry. I declare that I will get it all the way together by this time next year. Hold me accountable, yall. Now, I don't know if any of you have ever run across the scripture that says "do not call anyone 'father' on earth," but I have, and it had me switch my vocabulary completely when referring to men with the title of father. But I believe that the Holy Spirit revealed to me the proper context of this verse. Tonight I'll bring attention to the fact that you only have one Father.  Let's get into it. As always, take time to review ALL of the AnnouncementsHealthy Living Tips, and other information detailed below, following the Reflections and Power in Prayer whenever time permits. Your continued support is always appreciated. Keep spreading God's Gospel, and feel free to share the Scripture of the Week with the hashtag SOW. Enjoy! **Disclaimer: Production and distribution days of the SOW are subject to change without warning**

PRAISE REPORTS: I thank God that my entire household survived covid at the end of last year, and despite my being high-risk, I am doing well with no residual side effects from the virus. Thank the Lord that the acne on my face has finally cleared, and now I can focus on reversing the scars. I praise God that my 1st children's book is finally available for purchase. I thank the Lord that He is stirring up impact in me in ways that far exceed what I ever considered for myself and my God-driven ministry. Father God, we thank you for every 'no' you have and will give us because we now recognize that a better 'yes' is just around the corner. Hallelujah! If you have a specific praise report, please share because we "overcame [the adversary] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of [our] testimony" (Revelation 12:11). **NOTE: All praise reports are shared referencing your name unless anonymity is specified**

PRAYER REQUESTS: I ask that you pray for my complete surrender to God as well as total trust in His will and timing. I am believing God for activation and acceleration of His character in me so that I will be a beast in Spirit-led action and execution of God's instruction. I'm believing God to do a new thing in me so that once I am completely transformed, I will relinquish the power of my default setting. Let's pray over the current state of our global livelihood and economy; that despite the mandates, those who are exercising what should be honored as the right, the same system that is removing it once created, are allotted adequate alternatives to live freely. Let's continue to pray for one another and thank Yahweh for the victory. Refrain from confessing the problem caused by the enemy; ALWAYS pray for the desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome (refer to the book The Tongue – A Creative Force, by Charles Capps; you can download your FREE copy here https://rb.gy/niy4go). If you or someone you know needs prayer, let me know, and your request will be added to the following SOW. **NOTE: All prayer requests are shared referencing your name and need unless anonymity is specified**

BE ENCOURAGED: NEVER lose sight of God amidst adversity… Ponder this: "A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way" (Author Unknown). I'm no theological scholar. Even if I were a pastor or an expert on God's word, I would still advise you NEVER to take someone else's word as solid truth; "Study to show thyself approved" (2 Timothy 2:15), and CHALLENGE EVERYTHING by comparing it to the Word of God. If what you see, hear, or read does NOT fall in line with the Word of God, then it is NOT true... The rest of this day isn't promised, let alone tomorrow, so why not strengthen your faith TODAY? Feed your body healthy nutrition, be cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g., media, books, TV, music, etc.) so that YOU can start anew and become a better you NOW, rather than later. If you need someone to help you get there, or you're looking for an accountability partner, you've come to the right place. Here I am.

FEATURED SONGS OF PRAISE: "Father Can You Hear Me" by Tamela Mann feat. Tiffany EvansTerrell Carter, and Cheryl Pepsii Riley (you can listen to it here https://rb.gy/qdvmrs) and "Our Father" by Hillsong Worship (you can listen to it here https://rb.gy/3zws4y). I would also recommend Classical for Studying Radio on Pandora to facilitate your meditation on the Word better as you study; you can listen to that station here https://rb.gy/wtbmva.

OPENING PRAYER: Yahweh, please let your presence set the tone for how this lesson will flow and how we will grow from it. Clear our minds and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may be decreased in self and increased in you. Fill us with your presence through the Holy Spirit to see as we look, to listen as we hear, and to come into alignment with your word and your will. Help us to receivebelieve in, and apply your truth, that we may be transformed by your intended message from this fellowship and become better as a result of it. In the name of Yeshua, Amen!

KEY PASSAGE(S) – MATTHEW 23:8-10 (NIV)"8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and He is in Heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.

REFLECTIONS:  As I studied the key scripture, it was amazing how clear the words resonated with my spirit. In the past, I had read those words "do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and He is in heaven," and I thought, oh my gosh, I used to call the priest at work 'father' out of respect. But then I would be confused because I have seen the word 'father' throughout the bible used in the contest in which we are most familiar with on earth; when did it become a sin to call someone 'father?' Good thing I've always called and refer to my earthly father as 'daddy.'

This time, I understood that verse much differently. For the heck of it, I read it in The Message, and it read, 8-10 "Don't let people do that to you, put you on a pedestal like that. You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates. Don't set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let Him tell you what to do. No one else should carry the title of 'Father'; you have only one Father, and He's in Heaven. And don't let people maneuver you into taking charge of them. There is only one Life-Leader for you and them—Christ" (Copyright © 1993, 2002, 2018 by Eugene H. Peterson). Notice that the terms "Teacher" and "Father" are distinguished by the use of capitalized first letters, which we've grown to understand in reading the word, are associated with God and Jesus. But what stood out to me was "don't set people up as experts over your life." The Holy Spirit has been nudging me to stop worshipping the other G - Google in this season. That means that I need to stop turning to the internet for answers and turn to God. Google has become like a god to me because instead of seeking God's Kingdom first, I've sought those computer keys to type my concerns for diverse answers that usually add to my problem rather than solve it.

Anyone else bold enough to confess that they have idolized Google? Are you honest enough with yourself to admit that you have acknowledged other people or objects before God? As the ultimate authority in our lives, Abba - Father, our Teacher has advised us to "seek ye first the kingdom of God" (Matthew 6:33). Jesus "set an example that you should do as [He has] done for you" (John 13:15NIV), trusting that "everything that was written in the past was written to teach us" (Romans 15:4NIV). So any time we run to doctors, Google, relationships, substances, food, or materials before we turn to the Lord, we have titled that thing "Father"; that thing now becomes our authority, influence, idol, and god.

The first commandment is, "You shall have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:3NIV). We aren't supposed to put more faith and trust in the internet, YouTube gurus, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, preacher or priest, and especially not ourselves - "lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5NIV). Instead, we are instructed not to be "anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6NIV). Our Father in heaven provides FREE counsel for every concern and confusion; allow Him to direct you with the most valuable instruction so that you might strive to emulate Him.

As you usher others into the Kingdom, you have to know the Lord and trust His direction so that you're not developing more hypocrites (read Matthew 23:15MSG, here shorturl.at/bwzAB). Use your ministry to spread the Gospel - to teach doctrine NOT tradition. Abandon your religion because it's a stumbling block (read Romans 14:13-23NIV, here shorturl.at/qsGIU). Get intimate with God in the spiritual. "The Spirit of truth, will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come" (John 16:13NIV). "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit" (1 Corinthians 2:14NIV). However, as you commit to leading others, be sure that your walk is internal, not external (read Matthew 23:25-26, MSG, here shorturl.at/sC027). You may have a biological father, an adoptive father, or a father figure, but you only have one Father; seek Him first, then everything else will come to you (see Matthew 6:33 here shorturl.at/fsNT9). #SOW

POWER IN PRAYER: POWER IN PRAYER: Lord, we praise you for your discerning Spirit that leads us down a path of righteousness and molds us into men and women after your own heart. We're thankful for healing, for your yeses, and the nos that lead to better yeses. We thank you for activating and accelerating your character in us so that we will be beasts in Spirit-led action and execution of your instruction. We're thanking you for doing a new thing in us so that we step into a complete transformation. We thank you for the direction and clear instruction that provides our breakthrough to conversion. Lord, we praise you for being in control despite the current chaos in our world; we are believing you for providing a way out of no way, hope out of hopelessness, peace out of worry, and strength out of weakness. If we trust you, you are the bearer of good news even when man rejects your word and fails to believe in it. For those who choose to exercise their right not to be vaccinated, grant them access to facilities and resources that support and protect their beliefs. We declare your word to be accurate, and we pray that everyone reading this right now who shares the same desire will submit to you, live in alignment with your will, and trust that your promises apply to each of us. May we acknowledge you as Father and Lord over all; may no person, object, or belief become more significant than you. May we be wise in our dealings, knowledgeable in your word, discerning in our decisions, and full of your understanding. May the words we speak and the thoughts we meditate on be acceptable and pleasing to you always. As your angels and Holy Spirit do your bidding on Earth and in Heaven, protect them and us with your recourse as you bind, loose, and cast out the demonic spirits of distraction, destruction, retaliation, revenge, and backlash. All these things we ask and thank you for, in the matchless name of Yeshua, Amen!

HEALTHY LIVING TIPS: Change begins within... Contrary to popular belief, self-care is the opposite of being selfish and self-indulgent. Self-care is about taking care of your well-being before trying to help manage someone else's mess. There is a reason flight attendants tell you, "Should the cabin lose pressure, oxygen masks will drop from the overhead area. Please place the mask over your mouth and nose before assisting others"; if you're incapacitated, what help are you to the one you're supposed to assist? Taking care of yourself first is a critical element of conquering daily stressors. With or without the assistance of a healthcare provider, self-care consists of promoting health, preventing disease, maintaining health, and coping with illness and disability. Anything related to your physical, mental, and emotional health is part of self-care; good nutrition, relaxation, deep breathing, meditation, laughter, exercise, massages, quiet time, and medical attention all equate to self-care. What are you doing to take care of yourself?

What is your disease? (6/2/2021)

SALUTATIONS: How's it going yall? My days are clearly off because I could've bet my life that although I'm late distributing this week's lesson, it had only been a week since our last fellowship. However, I see that I'm like 2 weeks off. Ugh! Apologies yall, no excuses. On Memorial Day I hope that yall were able to reflect on the beautiful memories of loved ones who have gone to rest before you, instead of focusing on the sorrow that followed their absence. Mine was nice. I was able to spend time with family this past weekend which is always a blessing. Then again, I choose not to dwell on sorrowful memories of the deceased. Although missing them never goes away, it does make the memory easier when I reflect throughout the year on who they were to me before they departed this earth, and who they remain eternally, rather than letting a day or two a year be a time spent cursing the day they had to leave. This is kind of the premise for tonight's lesson. Anxiety, depression, addiction, stress, etc. are as catastrophic as any terminal disease. If left untreated, they fester and eat at your mental health causing psychological, emotional, and even physical disorder. What is your disease? Let's discover how we can heal from the diseases that plague us. Let's get into it. As always, take time to review ALL of the AnnouncementsHealthy Living Tips, and other information detailed below, following the Reflections and Power in Prayer, whenever time permits. Your continued support is always appreciated. Keep spreading God's Gospel and feel free to share the Scripture of the Week with the hashtag SOW. Enjoy! **Disclaimer: Production and distribution days of the SOW are subject to change without warning*

PRAISE REPORTS: I am grateful that God is stirring up a true boss mentality in me; look out for my advancement yall. Father God, we thank you. We believe but mend our unbelief. Hallelujah! If you have a specific praise report, please share, because we “overcame [the adversary] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of [our] testimony” (Revelation 12:11). **NOTE: All praise reports are shared with reference to your name unless anonymity is specified**

PRAYER REQUESTS: I've been doing a lot of volunteering recently, and in one effort where we clean up areas heavily populated with homeless encampments, we've provided information for free resources such as rehab, and recently a couple agreed to accept those services. Their names are Elton and Monica, please pray for them to successfully complete rehab and be transformed as a result of it. Also, that there will be sufficient rehabilitation so that they can reacclimate into society without having a relapse later down the line. Let's continue to pray for one another and thank Yahweh for the victory while refraining from confessing the problem caused by the enemy; ALWAYS pray for the desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome (refer to the book The Tongue – A Creative Force, by Charles Capps; you can download your FREE copy here https://rb.gy/niy4go). If you or someone you know needs prayer, let me know, and your request will be added to the following SOW. **NOTE: All prayer requests are shared with reference to your name and need unless anonymity is specified**

BE ENCOURAGED: NEVER lose sight of God amidst adversity… Ponder this: "Stress is extremely harmful to the body. Even mainstream medicine is recognizing how many diseases stress causes." KEY PASSAGE(S) – PROVERBS 12:25 & 17:22 (AMP)"12:25 Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a good (encouraging) word makes it glad... 17:22 A happy heart is good medicine and a joyful mind causes healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

REFLECTIONS: If we take a look at the Book of Johnchapter 5, we see that Jesus was making His way to Jerusalem for a Jewish festival. Along His travels he passed Bethesda, the healing pool, where large numbers of disabled people ranging from blind to lame sat around waiting for their turn to enter the pool after an angel from God would occasionally stir the waters to activate its healing power. The catch? Only the first person who entered the pool after the disturbance would be cured. Jesus had spotted a man who'd been stricken with his ailment for 38 years. Honestly, I cannot imagine what was going through the Lord's mind, but when I read what He said to the man, I could only conclude that the Lord had to have been perplexed as to how the man could be so close to his cure yet choose to lay by the wayside still wishing on a dream. When the Lord noticed the man and had been made aware of his circumstance, He didn't ask "What is your disease?" Jesus simply asked the man "Do you want to get well?"  (read John 5:1-6NIV, here https://rb.gy/krszba).

The title of our message this evening is "What is your disease?" not to focus on its crippling effect on your psychological, emotional, physical, and social well-being. Rather, it is to have you sift through your limiting beliefs, negative mindset, and worries to determine which you have allowed to morph into your identity? Meaning, which one of your struggles have you become so attached to that it has now become part of your character - who you are? What LIE has the enemy engrained in you that you have accepted as truth, and now it has festered into anxiety, depression, addiction, cancer, or some other crippling disease that has so much control over your well-being, that you've become comfortable with its prognosis? Instead of dwelling on the disease, decide whether or not you're ready to be delivered from it.

I will be the first to admit that this isn't a walk in the park. It's a hard pill to swallow when you accept accountability for how YOU CHOOSE to respond to the lemons life throws at you. In our key passages, we see that the Word warns us that anxiety, worry, and brokenness tears us down, while happiness, which is a CHOICE, and an encouraging word boosts us up. If we're reading in-between the lines, then this is telling us that we MUST watch the stuff we're listening to AND the company we keep; EVERYTHING we listen to, read, watch, and participate in has some influence over our thoughts, words, and/or actions. That being said, don't you think that the individuals and environments you choose to immerse yourself in would play an even larger role in impacting your character?

I don't know the history of the crippled man that Jesus had encountered that day at Bethesda, but that man sat by the pool and blamed his lack of help for the reason he had not been healed. Oftentimes we've been conditioned to grow comfortable in misfortune, and in turn, develop a negative mindset. Thus, we choose to embrace things and individuals that do not serve us, rather, we engulf our energy into things and individuals that take from us instead of adding to us, further perpetuating the negativity that we've allowed to fester as we allow ailments such as anxiety and worry to morph into disease. First off, let's break that word up real quick. The word is DIS-ease. I mean from that breakdown alone, one can formulate a pretty valid definition - dis as in not at ease. However, for the sake of accuracy, here's how the Google  dictionary defines the term disease: "a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury; a particular quality, habit, or disposition regarded as adversely affecting a person or group of people." Our mindset influences our thoughts, words, actions, and reactions, and those can have either a positive/healing effect or a negative/dis-ease effect.

When you consider where you are in life today and where you wish you were or where you feel that you should be at this stage in life, who or what do you blame for your current circumstance? Do you ever take responsibility for YOUR ACTIONS or lack thereof that have contributed to where you are today? Or, do you blame the naysayers and belittlers for decreasing YOUR confidence, or your peers for pressuring you into a poor DECISION? I have taken accountability and let me reiterate, it's no easy pill to swallow. But a better question is "Do you want to get well?" (John 5:6NIV). Maybe you are hurt, angry, ashamed, or stressed. The key is NOT to allow those ailments to enslave you. YHWH isn't at the door, He is already INSIDE the room. When Jesus died for our sins, He sent us the Holy Spirit to be everywhere at ALL times - He is IN you. Therefore the ONLY thing standing in the way of you stepping into the healing waters to cure your disease is YOU. He's already stirred up the waters, He's just waiting on you to get in. Are you ready to get well? #SOW

POWER IN PRAYER: POWER IN PRAYER: Lord we thank you for your wisdom, clarity, understanding, alignment, and application. We're grateful for functioning organs, clean water, a sound mind, food, clothes, shoes, shelter, family, and friends. We thank you in advance for Elton and Monica's successful completion of rehab and their transformation as a result of it. We praise you for securing sufficient rehabilitation so that they can reacclimate into society afterward without having a relapse later down the line. As we wrestle with disease and ailments Father, develop our trust in you so that we may recognize the still small voice within, calling us into your healing waters. Help us to realize that the discord within is one choice away from happiness and joyfulness. May we be not hesitant in seeking your provision of correction transforming our dis-ease into ease as we choose to pick up our mats and walk with you. May we be wise in our dealings, knowledgeable in your Word, discerning in our decisions, and full of your understanding. May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts always be acceptable and pleasing in your sight. As your angels and Holy Spirit do your bidding on Earth and in Heaven, protect us and them with your recourse as you bind, loose, and cast out the demonic spirits of distraction, destruction, retaliation, revenge, and backlash. All these things we ask and thank you, in the matchless name of Yeshua, Amen!

HEALTHY LIVING TIPS: Change begins within... Let's take a look at the benefits of fenugreek. You're probably wondering why? Well, I've struggled with a progressive case of adult acne for over a decade now. The acne is cystic which typically means it's related to some sort of hormonal imbalance. On a quest to find ways to manage hormonal imbalance, I stumbled across some articles that recommended fenugreek. I used it to make tea for several weeks but wasn't consistent. However, a few days ago, YouTube recommended a video that mentioned fenugreek to treat skin problems. So I looked into it yet again. Here's what I've come to know about fenugreek after my research and personal use:

  1. Fenugreek is a plant whose leaves and seeds have been widely used as both culinary and medicinal ingredients.
  2. It smells like maple syrup yet has a slightly bitter aftertaste; if you drink too much your sweat and/or urine might be confused with a waffle house (I still haven't found what dose prevents the maple syrup smell from surfacing on the skin. When using topically when I was nursing, I smelled like syrup, however, I didn't when drinking 1-2 small mugs of fenugreek tea daily).
  3. You can use the whole seeds or ground seeds to make tea and/or water; when consumed daily, this has helped many individuals diminish their hormonal acne and/or grow their hair (search fenugreek on YouTube and you'll find hella testimonial videos).
  4. In my experience, fenugreek has acted as a diuretic and helped with milk production when nursing. Perhaps I'll update you later on its contribution to my blemish-free skin, and long luxurious locks. However, it's only been a few days since I've reintroduced it into my diet.
  5. It may help to lower blood pressure in type 2 diabetics, induce labor in pregnant women, and balance hormones (https://www.everydayhealth.com/).
As always, be mindful of the things you feed your body, both physically and figuratively. Be safe, be blessed, and prioritize your health and wellbeing!

The Tumor is Still There (5/13/2021)

SALUTATIONS: Hey yall! I hope that all the mothers (regardless of biological relation) had a restful and enjoyable Mother's Day. Mine was nice, didn't go exactly as planned, however, I'm blessed to experience motherhood and to still have the privilege of spending time with my own mom. I've been working on a lot of different projects (details listed in the Announcements) in midst of those other things that have been a bit burdensome, affecting my ability to really focus and concentrate on this SOW. I've been trying to write it since last weekend. The crazy part is when I attempted to pray through the cloudy mind, I'd fall asleep on my knees mid-prayer, or, I'd start babbling and not even knowing what I'm praying about. Spiritual attack, of course. Why not me? I have a testimony and a journey that requires my resilience so that I can help nurture someone else's freedom through Christ. I told yall before, no more excuses, I am fighting and praying to improve my productivity and consistency with this thing, and though I may not be impacting on a large scale yet, that one person who gets something from my transparency is why I've continued with this ministry - my efforts are for the Kingdom, so if that means I only touch one life, then I've done what I'm purposed to do. But what about when you've gone through brain surgery (renewal of the mind) and the tumor (burden) is still there? It's easy for us to believe that God is able, however, it is trusting that He is willing and able to do for me.

PRAISE REPORTS: I am very grateful for motherhood, family, and friends. I'm also grateful for the inspiration to create four writing journals via Amazon and some God-centered merch; all items are available for purchase online, links will be placed in the Announcements.

PRAYER REQUESTS: This week let's pray for focus and alignment.

BE ENCOURAGED: NEVER lose sight of God amidst adversity… Ponder this: "If God can turn night into day, He can turn your burden into a blessing" (quotemaster.org). I'm no theological scholar, and even if I were a pastor or an expert on God's word, I would still advise you NEVER to take someone else's word as solid truth; "Study to show thyself approved" (2 Timothy 2:15), and CHALLENGE EVERYTHING by comparing it to the Word of God. Here I am.

FEATURED SONGS OF PRAISE: "Do it Again" by Anthony Brown & group therAPy (you can listen to it here https://rb.gy/yv3xbq) and "Do it Again/Blessed Medley" by Travis Greene (you can listen to it here https://rb.gy/zffcjn). I would also like to recommend Classical for Studying Radio on Pandora to better facilitate your meditation on the Word as you study, you can listen to that station here https://rb.gy/wtbmva.

Help us to receivebelieve, and apply your truth, that we may be transformed by your intended message from this fellowship and become better as a result of it. In the name of Yeshua, Amen!

KEY PASSAGE(S) – EPHESIANS 3:20"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the Power that worketh in us.

**Unless otherwise indicated all Scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible retrieved from https://www.biblegateway.com/passage**

REFLECTIONS: You're praying on your knees daily. You're attending weekly bible study. You're reading your bible every day. You're doing your best to live a life of integrity, but the tumor is still there. You were laid off at the height of the pandemic and still can't find gainful employment. There is consistent strife between you, your spouse, and your children. Your finances are in disarray. You know that God is able to do anything He wants. However, you struggle to believe that He is willing and able to do for you

I believe the deeper issue is our mindset; a negative mindset festers in doubt, worry, and fear. Many of us have spent so much time outside of the Lord, that our worldly influences have distorted our perception of who the Lord is in our own lives, and who He says we are in Him. Instead of seeing Him as a loving Father, we often view Him as a dictator and a disciplinarian - an unfair ruler even. Why though? Because we've allowed people with no relationship with God to distract us from our own, further impacting our personal beliefs; much like Eve in the Garden of Eden, our trust in God has been compromised by false truths, fake news, and misinformation. Instead of combating the mistruths and confusion through "prayer and petition" (read Philippians 4:6, NIV, here https://rb.gy/jb0lgr), we've tried to handle our situations the best way we know how rather than following God's instruction to "lean not unto thine own understanding" (read Proverbs 3:5 here https://rb.gy/h3tjgv).

We refuse to go to the doctor (God) to get the necessary treatment (renewal of the mind - read Romans 12:2 here https://rb.gy/aovvct), instead we're wasting valuable time on idle pursuits of ineffective treatments (selfish, temporary pleasures). Yet, we dare to question the Lord when the tumor is still there (burdens, unfavorable circumstances); a prayer submitted with selfish expectation, mistrust, and/or unbelief is futile. Have you ever heard someone speaking about their partner always accusing them of cheating, and then they say something along the lines of "I might as well go and do it since you're always accusing me of it?" Have you ever considered that your doubt in God's ability leads Him to choose to ignore prayers that are ingenuine? He might be thinking to Himself, 'They don't believe I can do it anyway, so why do it?'

Honestly, I think that no matter what we believe should be the appropriate response or timing for the Doctor to remove the tumor, it's more about trusting that He is able and realizing that it's His sovereignty (power, dominion) NOT His ability (skill, capacity) to choose to act in the BEST for our goodWhether or not God chooses to act in our circumstances is His business - ours is to BELIEVE that He can and He will work all things out for the good of those who love Him according to His will (read Romans 8:28 here https://rb.gy/ymco1d).

What you're going through right now may not look good on the surface but trust that "the battle is not yours, but God's" (2 Chronicles 20:15). Remember that the Lord "is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works" (Psalm 145:17). You are the "apple of [His] eye" (read Psalm 17:8NIV, here https://rb.gy/gerfpj). We are His "people" - His "beloved" (read Romans 9:25 here https://rb.gy/uwtgms). He is overflowing with compassion and affection for you and me - His "banner" over us is "love" (read Song of Solomon 2:4 here https://rb.gy/k2tbrc). Even when His methods defy human logic, He is working out the best result in your circumstances. Just because the tumor is still there and it has desensitized you from seeing or feeling the kindness in God's latest approach to your situation, doesn't mean He's unable, but that His supreme, unrestricted love is at work another way right now. As we accept and trust this truth, we'll gradually fall into the most receptive position for seeing His power at work and truly experiencing just how capable He is. #SOW

POWER IN PRAYER: POWER IN PRAYER: Lord we thank you for life, love, grace, health, strength, and integrity. We're grateful that despite our inability to see and feel you in our current circumstances we know that you are able and capable to do for us as you've done for others. Lord as we continue to develop our relationship with you, strengthen our walk, focus our attention, and bring us into complete alignment with you. As we seek true intimacy with you, help us to recognize your voice; reveal the ways you're working in our lives so that we may acknowledge your presence even when it isn't wrapped as pretty as we'd like. Help us to trust you as our Doctor even when the tumor is still there. Lord, we believe in your ability, but help our unbelief as you work everything out for our greater benefit. Father, provide the peace that passes all understanding so that as we grow to trust you more and more, we'll be at peace knowing that despite human logic, your process and timing are worth the wait.

As a multicultural woman of color, a veteran, and mother I've had challenges with mental health; anxiety and depression are mental disorders but the stigma associated with the term places many in a position of denial. Me, I thrive on finding ways to beat the odds.

On a quest to find better ways to cope with my own struggles, I've turned to YouTube videos, articles, and various outlets that focus on mindset change and self-improvement. More recently I've stumbled across Podcasts. I cannot provide you an official definition of that, but I know you can access them from various devices. To my knowledge, they are audio recordings that focus on a particular theme, topic, or niche.

Many individuals find validation, community, and solidarity in listening to other people’s stories and testimonies. These podcast conversations can be healing, and educational; some podcasts are very helpful in bringing attention to mental health and can help foster more compassion for the complexity of being authentically you.

There are many mental health podcasts geared toward putting an end to the stigma that plagues discussions around mental health by replacing it with honest and compassionate dialogue, to determine better ways to support ourselves as well as others. Here are a few mental health podcasts that may help you navigate anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and more:
  1. Mental - created by Bobby Temps to break down mental health stigma and discrimination. Listen here https://www.mentalpodcast.co.uk/.
  2. Therapy for Black Girls - dedicated to encouraging the mental wellness of Black women and girls. Listen here https://therapyforblackgirls.com/podcast/ .
  3. TherapyLab - psychotherapist and Harley Therapy founder Dr. Sheri Jacobson, explores people's insights into therapy, mental health, and wellbeing. Listen here https://harleytherapy.com/therapylab.
  4. Other People's Problems - what people really sound like when they talk about traumatic births, turbulent divorces, eating disorders, and tough childhoods. Listen here https://www.cbc.ca/radio/opp.
  5. Living in this Queer Body - about the barriers to embodiment and how collective stories can bring queerly bodied people back to themselves. Listen here https://www.livinginthisqueerbody.com/.
Those were just a few podcasts that I read about in the article 15 Best Mental Health Podcasts to Help You Navigate Tough Times This Year on the Prevention website at https://rb.gy/f2gwloIf you're struggling, you are NOT alone; do some research and find a podcast or two, see a therapist, talk to a friend, get a life coach - there are ample resources available to help you navigate your emotions and develop healthy copingGet the help you need because other people's opinions about you do NOT matter, but YOUR mental health does!

As always, be mindful of the things you feed your body, both physically and figuratively. Be safe, be blessed, and prioritize your health and wellbeing!
