Rate Yourself: Commitment & Enthusiasm (10/28/2017)

SALUTATIONS: How's it going, everyone? I hope that yall had a wonderful week. I was having a difficult time concentrating yesterday, not to mention, my son and his current clingy-crying every 5 seconds stage, so, as far as I got with the SOW was listening to Anthony Brown & group therAPy Radio on Pandora and then opening my email to get started, but never did. On another note, I want to remind yall of the importance of sharing your praise reports; it is "by the blood of the Lamb and by the Word" of our testimonies that we overcome the adversary (refer to Revelation 12:11 here https://goo.gl/hMtvgT). Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and try to relax, stress less, and trust God more.

PRAISE REPORTS: GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME! There is a lot to be grateful for; one of the greatest and most tangible blessings we can ALL shower the Lord with praises for is LIFE… Hallelujah, thank you, Yeshua!

PRAYER REQUESTS: Let’s end this month praying for victims and casualties of natural disasters, cancer, addiction, depression, and tumors, as well as the prevention thereof. Let us also remember one another in prayer, thanking Yahweh for the victory while refraining from confessing the problem caused by the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome (refer to the book The Tongue – A Creative Force, by Charles Capps; you can purchase it here https://goo.gl/wxxaJk).

BE ENCOURAGED... NEVER lose sight of God in the midst of adversity: Ponder this: "I used to think you had to be special for God to use you, but now I know you SIMPLY need to SAY YES” (Bob Goff). I'm no theological scholar, and even if I were a pastor or an expert on God's word, I would still advise you NEVER to take someone else's word as solid truth; "Study to show thyself approved" (II Timothy 2:15), and CHALLENGE EVERYTHING by comparing it to the Word of God. If what you see, hear or read does NOT fall in line with the Word of God, then it is NOT true... The rest of this day isn't promised, let alone tomorrow, so why not strengthen your faith TODAY? Feed your body healthy nutrition, be cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.) so that you can start anew and become a better you NOW, not later.

FEATURED SONGS OF PRAISE: "Lord You've Been So Good" by Amber Bullock you can listen here (https://goo.gl/uvwqgR); "He Reigns/Awesome God" by Kirk Franklin you can listen here (https://goo.gl/gRvnxj).
OPENING PRAYER: Yahweh, please clear our minds and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Yeshua, Amen!
PASSAGE(S) – GALATIANS 2:20 & ROMANS 12:11: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me." "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord."

REFLECTIONS: This week's character check focuses on both "commitment" and "enthusiasm," after all, without an eager enjoyment/passion in the person or thing we have committed to, we are bound to fail – how do you rate yourself? To keep it 100, I have a difficult time committing to things because almost everything outside of family, friends, motherhood and helping people in need, does little to peak my interest. Thus, it is less appealing for me to finish tasks/projects that I lack gusto for, let alone even starting said tasks/projects.

Let's take a look at this week's passages in the Amplified Bible (AMP): "I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me" (Galatians 2:20), and Romans 12:11 says, "never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord." Although I started off speaking about my issues with commitment in general, for the sake of this lesson, as you can see in the passages, we are discussing commitment as it relates to our relationship and service to the Lord, and furthermore, our zeal behind it.Matthew 13:18 (NLT) says, "The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted"; Matthew 13:18 paints a portrait of the "Church" who have an active relationship with Christ – a commitment, and therefore they are able to plant seeds in whatever capacity and flourish for the Lord. These individuals are NOT trying to walk on both sides of the fence – they are NOT trying to serve two masters, they have dedicated themselves to matters affecting the agenda of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Word tells us that there is no grey area when serving Yahweh, you're either hot or cold, and lukewarm is rejected (refer to Revelation 3:15-16 here https://goo.gl/NQKqpS). In this regard, Ephesians 6:5-8 (NLT) says, "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free"; If we are steadfast in our devotion to the Lord, patience will come naturally; as we master PATIENCE and LIVE BY FAITH, while DOING GOD’s will, His promises WILL be fulfilled (refer to Hebrews 10:36 here https://goo.gl/Qx1cP1). We conquer our trials by standing firm on our faith in the Word – in Yahweh, NOT by drawing back (refer to Hebrews 10:38 here https://goo.gl/eM5fYW). Basically, once we have accepted the challenge of a commitment to the Lord, we should devote ourselves and our time wholeheartedly, with energy, vigor – enthusiasm.

Here are some more scriptures that reference commitment and enthusiasm:
  • ** Luke 16:13: " No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
  • I Kings 8:61: "Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes, and to keep His commandments, as at this day."
  • John 7:17: "If any man will do His will, He shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself."
  • Hebrews 4:16: "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
  • ** Psalm 37:5: "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass."
  • II Peter 1:5: "And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge."
  • ** James 4:8:  "Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."
  • ** Proverbs 16:3"Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established."
  • Colossians 3:23: "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men."
  • ** II Corinthians 9:7: "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
  • ** I Corinthians 15:58: "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
  • Jeremiah 48:10"Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood."
  • Ephesians 6:7: "With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men."
  • ** Romans 12:1: " I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
** Points out the more significant scriptures of our focal point; you may read the NIV version of the above passages here https://goo.gl/vBCQja
POWER IN PRAYER: Yahweh, we thank you for provision and direction for proper preparation and preventative measures to avoid becoming victims and/or casualties of natural disasters, cancer, addiction, depression, and tumors. However, for those of us who have already succumb to man’s and/or nature’s diagnosis, forgive us in our unbelief; restructure our thought processes, and restore our faith Father; in our weakness provide strength; in our sickness provide healing; in our doubt provide reassurance; in our void provide your presence – remain in the center of everything. Lord we also ask for your hand to provide immediate relief, protection, and justice for persons suffering any form of abuse. We praise you for your grace and tranquility in times of grief, for providing us with the eternal peace, complete healing and restoration, and the clear, concise, and undeniable answers and solutions to our concerns, for delivering us from: strongholds, addiction, anger, resentment, heartache, disease, illness, pain, financial debt, stress, anxiety, and depression; for breaking any chains attached to the individuals reading or reciting this prayer, and for the people that we stand in intercessory prayer for. We appreciate your extra hedge of protection over our children, our households, our modes of transportation, and our surroundings; may we forever be enthusiastically committed to you Lord, steadfast on your Word and your will and may we develop and maintain a deep and strong relationship with you. May we be filled with the gusto to fully transform into the individuals that you have called us to be. Achieve in us the ability to pray game-changing prayers – prayers that change people, change outcomes, and help your will to manifest. We grant your angels permission to do our bidding on earth and we thank you for protecting us from its recourse. For everyone and everything we have failed to pray for, we ask that you do not fail to address the concern. This is our trusted prayer, we submit to you in the matchless name of Yeshua, Amen!

HEALTHY LIVING TIPS ... Change begins within: The benefits of consuming healthy nutrition and engaging in regular exercise are many; a healthy diet and exercise strengthens the immune system and reduces stress, anxiety, and depression. Proven benefits even extend to clear skin, better digestion, improved mood, and healthy sexual function.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: If you're interested in helping the non-profit organization Fostering Mind, Body, and Soul Incorporated (FMBS Inc.) this holiday season, you may make monetary donations via the "Donate" button on the upper right of our Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/fmbsinc.sustenance/. You are also welcome to arrange pick-up or drop-off of other contributions anytime throughout the year. FMBS Inc. uses all of its donations and contributions to give back to the community – supplying those in need with pre-packaged food items or grocery gift cards; laws were put into effect that prohibits people/organizations from providing already prepared (cooked, hand-packaged) food to the homeless, refer to this article https://goo.gl/2e5rfw); we also provide water, hygiene items, and other essentials. Our recipients are selected by referral, and by canvassing the streets of LA County and the Inland Empire (I.E.) for deserving families and individuals with a need. You may arrange any monetary donations or item contributions at any time via email at fmbsinc_2012@outlook.com. Another way FMBS Inc. raises funds is through the Ralph's/Food 4 Less Community Contribution Program; you must go to their website here http://www.friendsindeedpas.org/get-involved/ralphs-community-contribution-program/ and link your rewards cards or telephone numbers ("Alt ID") to our organization each year, and we will earn money for every purchase made under your linked rewards. Lastly, if you would like to help me illustrate and publish my six (6) children's books, targeting the toddler - 6 y/o age groups; they range from educational, to inspirational, and spiritual, I started a campaign via GoFundMe to help with funding here https://www.gofundme.com/josiaskhari. Even if you cannot make a contribution/donation yourself, SHARE the link and other information with EVERYONE, and on ALL of your social media outlets because sharing is caring ðŸ˜Š. Your continued support is always appreciated. Please keep spreading the word. #SOW

Rate Yourself: Generosity & Compassion (10/13/2017)

SALUTATIONS: Happy Sabbath Everyone! I hope that yall had a wonderful week. I apologize about last week's fellowship, I didn't manage my time most effectively and my ministry suffered as a result. I also want to apologize because I realized that I didn't update the link for the featured scriptures in the NLT for the last SOW. Anyway, in an effort to help build up the remnant, I encourage you to invite someone new to visit your church on your respective day of worship, or to join you in visiting my church tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Rubidoux SDA Church, 5320 Victoria Ave., Riverside, CA, 92506. If for some reason you cannot make it to church, you can check online to see if your desired church has a live stream; our live stream and/or the archived sermons can be viewed at http://rubitv.tv. I also want to encourage everyone to SHARE your praise reports; it is "by the blood of the Lamb and by the Word" of our testimonies that we overcome the adversary (refer to Revelation 12:11 here https://goo.gl/hMtvgT). Be safe and responsible this weekend, and try to relax, stress less, and trust God more.
PRAISE REPORTS: GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME! Honestly, there is a LOT of stuff going on in my life, and as much as I would like to have a breakdown, God is reminding me that everything on Earth is temporal, and that brings me much peace.

PRAYER REQUESTS: Please pray for our dear friend Jennifer Robinson; as yall may know, she did survive a brain tumor in the past, in which surgeries and treatment medications have caused a whole list of other complications. In addition to all of that, they found another tumor. Jenn is in great spirits despite it all. Why? Because she knows that we serve an awesome God that CAN change it around for the better, so lift her up. There is another individual who shall remain anonymous at her request; she is a young mother of 5, enduring stage 4 cancer, and is also hopeful for God's speedy and complete healing. Additionally, please lift up the Daniels family in their time of bereavement; the deceased leaves behind 3 children, Justin, Jaeda, and Jaelyn. You know that in the midst of adversity, it's sometimes hard to see our blessings and to remain hopeful, so let's also pray for people's unbelief and doubt, including our own. Let's also remember one another in prayer, thanking Yahweh for the victory while refraining from confessing the problem caused by the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome (refer to the book The Tongue – A Creative Force, by Charles Capps; you can purchase it here https://goo.gl/wxxaJk).

BE ENCOURAGED... NEVER lose sight of God in the midst of adversity: Ponder this: "Being entirely honest with oneself is a good exercise” (Sigmund Freud).

FEATURED SONGS OF PRAISE: "It's Working for Your Good (feat. Jason Nelson)" by Stephen Hurd you can listen here (https://goo.gl/NtsWyC); one of my favorites is "Testimony" by Anthony Brown & group therAPy you can listen here (https://goo.gl/rGTpV4).
OPENING PRAYER: Yahweh, please clear our minds and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Yeshua, Amen!
PASSAGE – DEUTERONOMY 15:10-11 & II KINGS 13:23: "Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land." "And the Lord was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast He them from His presence as yet."
**Unless otherwise indicated, all Scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible; retrieved from https://www.biblegateway.com/passage **

REFLECTIONS: To make up for last week's mishap, this week's character check focuses on both "generosity" and "compassion" - how do you rate yourself? For me personally, I believe that those are two of my more notable attributes. Although, I would rather consider generosity and compassion a gift. Ever since childhood, I have been drawn towards helping others in whatever capacity, but more especially, helping people who actually have a true need (e.g. homeless, at-risk youth); it is my calling to hospitality and ministry that led me to found my non-profit organization, Fostering Mind, Body, and Soul Incorporated (FMBS Inc.), back in 2012. Without a generous and compassionate character, I would have gone on to grieve the Spirit by passing up the opportunity to distribute the SOW and manage an organization with very little knowledge and experience of my own. But it is NOT myself that I glorify, for it is through the Spirit that I was even able to recognize my gifts and determine how to apply them.

The Bible says this about generosity "If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth" (Deuteronomy 15:7-8), and of compassionProverbs 21:13 says, "Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard." If the WORD reveals a general purpose of kindness and humanity, why do we more often than not shun homeless panhandlers? It's not always because of selfishness, rather, it's because we're being judgemental, making assumptions about how those individuals may have ended up on the street in the first place, or what their intentions are for using the money that they're soliciting. Yet, it is also in the WORD that we are warned NOT to judge others; "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye" (Matthew 7:1-5).

Ephesians 4:32 says, "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you"; this one passage sums up this week's character check in its entirety, as well as a previous one on forgiving - in case you weren't able to see these 3 characteristics through the KJV, the NIV breaks it down like this, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." It is because GOD the Father was compassionate enough to lend us His Son JESUS, who was generous enough to GIVE us everlasting life through the belief and acceptance of His death and resurrection at the cross, for ALL sin, and then bless us with the capability of a personal relationship with Him through the HOLY SPIRIT, so that we are FREE to ASK for and receive forgiveness without having to be bound by the old covenant (seeking connection to God only through a high priest, sacrificial offerings, etc.), that we ourselves should develop a character of generosity and compassion.
I thought this lesson was going to be much longer considering we're "checking" two characteristics, but I believe it was short and to the point, because the ENTIRE Bible is a summary of LOVE; through a personal relationship with the Lord, we naturally develop a character that exhibits love, forgiveness, generositycompassion, and any other Christ-like personality trait mentioned in the Bible. However, here are some more scriptures that further delve into the qualities of "generosity" and "compassion":
  • Matthew 10:42: "And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."
  • ** Acts 20:35: "I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
  • Proverbs 11:24: "There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty."
  • ** II Corinthians 9:7, 13: "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver... Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men."
  • Zechariah 7:10: "And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart."
  • ** Proverbs 19:17: "He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He pay him again."
  • Matthew 14:14:  "And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick."
  • Mark 6:34"And Jesus, when He came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and He began to teach them many things."
  • Romans 12:20: "Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head."
  • ** Colossians 3:12-13: "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."
  • James 1:27: "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."
  • ** Deuteronomy 16:17"Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee."
  • ** I Peter 3:8: "Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous."

POWER IN PRAYER: Yahweh, we thank you for provision and direction for proper preparation for the prophesied devastation soon to come, and for those currently victims of natural disasters. We thank you for speedy and complete healing for both our sisters in Christ, Jennifer and Ms. Anonymous; they are both hopeful in your deliverance, so prove your promises in Matthew 7:7 right, that tells us that if we ask we will receive, and if we seek we shall find and if we knock the door shall be opened; Father we have asked, we have sought, and we have knocked, please show your face and extend your hand. We thank you for providing comfort and healing to the sick and shut-in, and the bereaved; specifically for the Daniels family, we ask for comfort and strength especially for Justin, Jaeda, and Jaelyn. We praise you for your grace and tranquility delivered to those of us experiencing grief, for providing us with the eternal peace, the complete healing and restoration, and the clear, concise, and undeniable answers and solutions to our concerns, for delivering us from: strongholds, addiction, anger, resentment, heartache, disease, illness, pain, financial debt, stress, anxiety, and depression; for breaking any chains attached to the individuals reading or reciting this prayer, and for the people that we stand in intercessory prayer for. We appreciate your extra hedge of protection over our children, our households, our modes of transportation, and our surroundings; may we forever be fixed on Jesus, steadfast on your Word and your will, and may we develop and maintain a deep and strong relationship with you Lord. May we be filled with the desire to fully transform into the individuals that you have called us to be.

Change begins within: Studies have shown that Omega 3 fatty acids can decrease depression and are naturally anti-inflammatory. You can get a natural serving of omega 3 fatty acids by consuming foods such as salmon, sardines, hemp oil, cod liver oil, walnuts, flaxseeds, Brussel sprouts, and kale. Omega-3s are essential because the human body isn't capable of producing them on its own. Omega 3s can help lower the risk for heart disease due to their inflammation-reducing abilities. They are also needed for proper neurological function, cell membrane maintenance, mood regulation, and hormone production. Therefore, we must rely on omega 3 foods in our diet to help supply our bodies with these extremely beneficial compounds.
