Search My Heart (9/26/13)

Greetings Everyone,
All honor and glory be to God! One mo' day till it's FRIIIIDAAAAY! Whoop! Whoop! Can't wait ... I am going to start us off with a praise report; the month-old baby we prayed for the other day, Maddox, endured a successful surgery. However, keep him in prayer, because he still has pneumonia. Now, I have several prayer requests: my cousin Ryan is hoping to get hired for a job she applied for; my bro Kerry (unspoken) he needs God's favor; my brother's co-worker Shelly Smith who may have cancer; my friend Marilyn Anthony, who is currently under the weather; lastly, my organization (FMBS Inc.) for success and overflowing support in our upcoming ventures. Next on our agenda is today's encouragement for improving healthy living ... "Exercise Your Brain: Go Dancing. You know your heart benefits from exercise. Your brain does, too. Studies show that regular, moderate exercise -- 30 minutes of walking or a light one-mile run -- helps fight the effects of aging on the brain. No grueling workouts required! All types of exercise count, including walking, bicycling, hiking, swimming, aerobics, and weight training ... How does exercise work to prevent mental decline? Researchers believe exercise may stimulate the body to fight stress that's normally occurring in the brain -- stress that causes oxidative damage." (WebMD. (2009). 8 Fall tips for healthy living. Retrieved from http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/features/8-fall-tips-healthy-living?page=3). "To IMPROVE is to CHANGE." - Winston Churchill

Be encouraged! Please join our cause! There is nothing more rewarding than helping others, especially those less fortunate than ourselves. Fostering Mind, Body, and Soul Incorporated (FMBS Inc.) is partnering with the LA Foodbank in our FIRST food drive beginning on October 1, 2013 until November 20, 2013. Help us be a blessing in the lives of those in need of our assistance. The Word of God sums it up best "LOVE thy neighbor the way you love thyself." If it were you in need, wouldn't you want someone to lend you a hand? But don't feel limited to supporting the food drive. My non-profit organization will also be participating in our FIRST major event; we will be walking the 5k run/walk for the National Brain Tumor Society's 2nd Annual marathon, to help raise awareness about brain tumors. We will be walking in honor of our friend Jennifer Robinson, a brain tumor SURVIVOR. NO MATTER how large or small, YOUR contributions and support BENEFITS people in need. I encourage you to JOIN our cause: you can make a charitable donation in support of our organization's normal operations -- serving underprivileged communities and individuals of ALL ages in and around Southern California, via the PayPal link at http://fmbs-inc-bytye.org/; you can make a food or monetary donation in support of our joint effort with the LA Food Bank to raise 350 lbs. of FOOD and/or $350 in funds by NOVEMBER 20th athttp://www.lafoodbank.org/virtual-food-drive/donor-pledge.aspx?member=99342517FBBDCBFB04EDE0CBF1F0A5B0; you may run/walk with us on OCTOBER 19th in support of brain tumor awareness, or make a monetary pledge at http://www.braintumorcommunity.org/goto/Team_Jenn_R to help us reach our goal of $1,000. On behalf of my team of volunteers, I thank you in advance for your contributions, donations, pledges, support, and for SHARING/PROMOTING these events to bring awareness to our efforts.  ~Tylesha Allen, CEO/Founder of FMBS Inc.~

As we continue to work together to spread God’s Gospel, let us also encourage one another to take steps that lead to a healthy overall mind, body, and soul; TRANSFORM your body, mind, and soul by feeding your body healthy nutrition, and being cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirits to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.).Have you fed your spirit today? CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN, so START YOUR TRANSFORMATION TODAY, because tomorrow is NOT promised. Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcomeDo NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. God Bless!

Lord please clear our minds, and open our eyes and ears so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Passage - Psalm 139:23-24 (NLT):
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life."

***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the New Living Translation (NLT) of the Bible***

Thoughts for Today:
"This Psalm was written by David. God called David a man after his own heart (refer to Acts 13:22). And yet David knew he had failings. Because of his devotion to the Lord, he didn't want to continue in any sin. He was open to personal examination and asked God to search his heart. God already knows everything about us . . . more than we know about ourselves. David knew that. In verse 2 of the same chapter, he wrote, "You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar." God knew David's shortcomings. David wanted to know them too. He wanted to say "I did it" and ask forgiveness. He wanted to clear anything offensive to God from his life.

Consider this …

Are you willing to ask God to search your heart? You may be doing all the "right" things, but what is in your heart? Bitterness? Unforgiveness? Jealousy? Fear? Selfishness? Wrong motives? Sin separates us from God's best for our lives. "It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, He has turned away and will not listen anymore" (Isaiah 59:2). We all sin, and we all let wrong attitudes creep in. But we don't need to let them move in permanently. We need to regularly ask God to search our heart and point out anything that shouldn't be there. How about you? Will you ask God to search your heart today?"

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. Anyone looking at our lives might think we have it all together, but you know differently and so do we. Please search our hearts and point out anything offensive to you. Transform us into an image that mirrors Jesus, so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. We ask for forgiveness of everything that we have thought, said, or did, that was not pleasing in your sight. Give us the strength we need to forgive those who have wronged us, the same way you continuously grant forgiveness to us. Also, place upon those we have wronged the same desire, that we too may be forgiven by them. More importantly Father, whatever guilt we've place on self, allow us to release so that we may forgive ourselves. Help us to release all negativity stored within. Father we thank you for baby Maddox's successful surgery; we ask that you will not only restore his and Marilyn's health quickly, but also completely. Lord we thank you in advance for Ryan's new employment, and for her advancements in the future. We thank you in advance that Kerry finds favor in your eyes with his unspoken request. Lord we know that you have the final say-so; we speak healing upon Shelly, releasing all ailments from her body, and the peace that passes her own understanding in her circumstance. May the efforts of FMBS Inc. flourish into an empire founded by the Word of God, that all of their endeavors are effective and will prosper in abundance, far exceeding mere success, but achieving their full potential. Bless us with a double portion of your Spirit Father. Close every unnecessary door that is open in our lives, and open supernatural doors to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness. Provide each of us with the clear and concise revelations we need in order to overcome the adversary. Help us to see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation. Help us to reevaluate our lifestyles, and to rearrange our priorities, placing you at the top of our list. Provide discernment to know the difference between good and bad, right from wrong, and your will vs. our own desires. We thank you for provision, guidance, and protection from Satan’s attacks. By the authority in our words, we reverse all the negativity spoken into existence within our individual lives and the lives of our loved ones and associates. We take back everything the enemy has stolen from us, and bind every evil and malicious plot, plan, and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus. Lord we also grant your angels permission to do our bidding on Earth without recourse. This is our affirmation of faith Father God; we submit our petition to you in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Take Responsibility (9/25/13)

Greetings Everyone,
All honor and glory be to God! I forgot to ask yall how well did last Thursday's SOD read? Because I was so exhausted that I found myself reading over the same lines over and over as my head went bobbing for apples, and my eyes departed to spend quality time with the back of my eyelids. I was far too dazed to recognize any mistakes the lesson may have had, so if there were any issues, I extend my apologies. Now, let's move on to today's health tip ... I'm not sure how stressful your atmosphere is on a daily, but working in a prison triggers many forms of stress and tension not just amongst the inmate population, but also its staff. I find myself searching for relief through deep breathing exercises, Benadryl to ease anxiety, or pain killers to relieve head and body aches associated with said stress. So the health tip today discusses remedies to help relieve tension headaches without use of oral medication; "tame tension headaches by rubbing peppermint oil, Tiger Balm, or white flower oil into your temples. All three remedies contain menthol, which has analgesic properties" (Whole Living. (2013). 50 simple health tips. Retrieved from http://www.wholeliving.com/136136/50-simple-health-tips#27719). Be encouraged!

My non-profit organization has linked up with the Food Bank in Los Angeles; beginning next month, we will be collecting non-perishable food and clothing items to include jackets and blankets in preparation for the season's change. If you have any items you would like to contribute, please let me know so that I can arrange a pick-up or drop-off location and time. Also, be reminded that it is crunch time for the first major that we will be participating in (please refer to http://www.fmbs-inc-bytye.org for more information about my organization). We will be showing our support at the Brain Tumor Society’s 2nd annual 5k walk/run. FMBS Inc. will be walking/running in honor of my dear friend, Jennifer Robinson, a brain tumor survivor. I would love for you to participate in the walk with us. Contact me with regard to your interest in this event, or simply “register” to “join a team” under my name (Tylesha Allen) or my company’s name (FMBS Inc.) for Team Jenn. If you would rather submit a monetary donation, you are more than welcome to do that as well. Either way, just copy and paste one of these two URL addresses http://www.braintumorcommunity.org/goto/Team_Jenn_R or http://www.braintumorcommunity.org/goto/fmbs_4_Team_Jenn into your Internet browser to read Jennifer’s story, to join Team Jenn, or to make a pledge that will help us reach our fund-raising goal of $1,000 for the cause. So far, we've only reached the $425 mark, so please remember to spread the word about this event. Many people have suffered as a result of brain tumors and brain cancers; families and friends of those who fall victim to brain tumors and/or brain cancer are victims themselves. Our efforts will bring researchers that much closer to better treatment, a cure, and will ultimately help to better educate society. We thank you in advance for, your support, your donations, your participation, and for SHARING these links with others.

CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN, so START YOUR TRANSFORMATION TODAY, because tomorrow is NOT promisedContinue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcomeDo NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversityGod Bless!

Passage - I John 1:8 (NLT):
"If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth."

***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the New Living Translation (NLT) of the Bible***

Thoughts for Today:
"When God points out sin in our lives, we need to accept responsibility. Blaming others began in the Garden of Eden with the first sin. Adam blamed God and Eve. Eve blamed the serpent. And ever since, we've wanted to deny responsibility for sin. "It's their fault." "It's the circumstances." But God wants us to admit our sin. In today's scripture, the apostle John is addressing the church. He's talking to believers. And he's telling them clearly that they are just fooling themselves if they claim they have no sin. When Nathan rebuked David for his adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband, David didn't try to blame others. He didn't say, "It's all her fault. She shouldn't have been bathing where I could see her." No, he said, "I have sinned against the Lord" (II Samuel 12:13 - NIV). He took personal responsibility for his sin and was quick to repent.

Consider this …

Are you willing to say "I did it"? Are you willing to take responsibility for your sin? Suppressing the truth only leads to delusion, and delusion supports on-going sin. We serve a forgiving and compassionate God. Jesus has already paid the price for our sin. It's up to us to admit what we've done and come to Him for forgiveness. John went on to tell the church (verse 9), "But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness."

***Reference: Living Free Every Day. (2013). I Did It. Take Responsibility. Retrieved from http://livingfree.org.***

I get irritated when people want to blame “the man,” blame “the system,” blame “the environment,” or place fault on others for the decisions and actions that they consciously carryout. Although the entire previously mentioned are flawed, a sane and coherent individual is capable and able to rationalize using logic; do NOT point the blame in another direction, ACCEPT accountability for the CHOICE You make to be held captive by the limitations You’ve created for Yourself

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. We ask for forgiveness of everything that we have thought, said, or did, that was not pleasing in your sight. Give us the strength we need to forgive those who have wronged us, the same way you continuously grant forgiveness to us. Also, place upon those we may have wronged, the same desire that we too may be forgiven by them. More importantly Father, whatever guilt we've place on self, allow us to release so that we may forgive ourselves. We can't blame anyone else for our bad attitudes, or for the things we’ve done wrong. We know that we are fully responsible before you for our individual wrongdoings. Please forgive us and cleanse us, so that we may be completely restored. Help us to release all negativity stored within. Dangers of Deceit (9/24/13)

Greetings Everyone,
All honor and glory be to God! I wanted to send the SOD out earlier, but I chose to put dinner in the oven to cook while I completed my workout. The first tip I will share with you isn't necessary one that is "healthy" rather a conservation tip, for lack of better words. Last week I made a small pan of chicken enchiladas but I ended up running out of tortillas. So instead of allowing the chicken filler for the enchiladas to go to waste, I used my food saver to store the rest of the batch in my freezer for later use. Tonight I defrosted the chicken concoction, added some mixed vegetables and cheese, and then added the filler to a pan lined with dough. I placed another layer of dough on top and baked it to create a pot pie. I shared this with you as an introduction to today's tip ... If you are anything like me, you can't tolerate leftovers after say - a day or two, but you don't want to be wasteful; get creative and use your leftovers to prepare a different meal. You can use leftover meat to make omelettes for breakfast, or stir-fry for lunch or dinner. Another way to savor leftovers is to freeze, defrost and then reheat them at a later date. The next tip focuses on healthy lifestyle choices. "Instead of being overly concerned with counting calories or measuring portion sizes, think of your diet in terms of color, variety, and freshness. This way it should be easier to make healthy choices. Focus on finding foods you love and easy recipes that incorporate a few fresh ingredients. Gradually, your diet will become healthier and more delicious" (Paul, M., Smith, M., Segal, M. A., & Segal, J. (2013). Healthy eating: easy tips for planning a healthy diet & sticking to it. Retrieved from http://www.helpguide.org/life/healthy_eating_diet.htm).

Let me remind you again that it is crunch time for the first major event my non-profit organization will be participating in (please refer to http://www.fmbs-inc-bytye.org for more information about my organization). We will be participating in the Brain Tumor Society’s 2nd annual 5k walk/run. FMBS Inc. will be walking/running in honor of my dear friend, Jennifer Robinson, a brain tumor survivor. Passage - I John 1:10 (NLT):
"If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts."

***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the New Living Translation (NLT) of the Bible***

Thoughts for Today:
"This week we've been discussing the importance of being honest about our sins, honest with ourselves, and with God. But sometimes we may choose to deceive ourselves. We can never deceive God because He knows everything about us. We might deceive ourselves about our own sin by rationalizing or minimizing the wrong. We might blame other people or circumstances instead of accepting responsibility. No matter how we deceive ourselves, it is important to understand the dangers of deceit.

Consider this …

If the sin is not an action but something we are harboring in our hearts, it will fester and grow and can even become a life-controlling problem.Unforgiveness can become bitterness and affect our outlook on life. Unchecked jealousy can consume us and begin to control our actions. Fear takes our eyes off God. Perhaps the sin is already affecting our actions - our day-to-day life. We are acting it out in unkindness, angry acts, manipulation, or any number of ways. On-going sin of any kind can lead to strained or broken relationships, problems with our children, and/or trouble on the jobThe most important danger of delusion is what it does to our relationship with God. If we deny our sin, we are calling God a liar and blocking our own path to walking with Him.
