SALUTATIONS: Hello everyone, happy Sabbath! I hope that yall had a wonderful week. As I have for the past few weeks, I encourage yall to invite someone new to your church; you are always welcome to visit my church's worship service on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Rubidoux SDA Church, 5320 Victoria Ave., Riverside, CA, 92506. If for some reason you cannot make it to church, you can always Google to see if your desired church offers a live stream; you may catch Mt. Rubidoux's live stream and/or the archived sermons at http://rubitv.tv. Be safe and responsible this weekend, and try to relax, stress less, and trust God more.
PRAISE REPORTS: GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME! Although there are many people affected by the hurricane, I have numerous family members and friends who are out there safe and sound. To God be the glory.
PRAYER REQUESTS: My cousin Laneshia Edwards' mother, Kathy Ann French, recently passed away; aside from being amidst the hurricane, they are in need of help paying for funeral services. Although I now place all solicitations at the end of the SOW, since this is a need in conjunction with her prayer request if you would like to donate to help with funeral expenses, click the link here https://www.gofundme.com/kathys-funeral-fundraising. As for me, I am still waiting for a specific response and answer from God regarding my unspoken prayer request; my mind has been clouded, so perhaps we can pray that He frees my mind so that I may hear clearly from Him, to know what my specific-next steps are. We should also continue praying for one another, thanking Yahweh for the victory while refraining from confessing the problem caused by the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome (refer to the book The Tongue – A Creative Force, by Charles Capps; you can buy it here https://goo.gl/NWEf7i).
BE ENCOURAGED... NEVER lose sight of God in the midst of adversity: Ponder this: “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us” (St. Augustine). I'm no theological scholar, and even if I were a pastor or an expert on God's word, I would still advise you NEVER to take someone else's word as solid truth; "Study to show thyself approved" (II Timothy 2:15), and CHALLENGE EVERYTHING by comparing it to the Word of God. If what you see, hear or read does NOT fall in line with the Word of God, then it is NOT true... The rest of this day isn't promised, let alone tomorrow, so why not strengthen your faith TODAY? Feed your body healthy nutrition, be cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.) so that you can start anew and become a better you NOW, not later.
FEATURED SONGS OF PRAISE: "God Blocked It" by Kurt Carr you can listen here (https://goo.gl/qSd1bd); "For Your Glory" by Tasha Cobbs you can listen here (https://goo.gl/P8mD5H).
OPENING PRAYER: Yahweh, please clear our minds and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Yeshua, Amen!
PASSAGE – HEBREWS 12:5-11 (NLT): "And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as His children? He said, 'My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when He corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes each one He accepts as His child.' As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as His own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father? If God doesn’t discipline you as He does all of His children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really His children at all. Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever? For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in His holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way"; You can read the KJV here https://goo.gl/VZYPst.

REFLECTIONS: This week's character check focuses on "discipline" - how do you rate yourself? You ever look at unruly children and wonder why their parents haven't disciplined them? It's funny because I took Josias shopping yesterday and he wanted to walk around on his own, which I cannot have my one-year-old son roaming the department store floors the way he roams our home; he was having real temper tantrums, can you believe that? I always said I wouldn't put up with that type of behavior once I had children of my own, but in today's society, to spank your child - "discipline" as I know it - is considered a criminal act and punishable by law. So, I had to let it slide in public. However, as I began this week's series lesson on discipline, I was reminded that it is NOT restricted to a physical approach; discipline has several different ranges, but the top two that come to my mind are physical punishment (spanking, a pop on the bottom or hand, etc.) and boundary-based discipline (taking away privileges). So to the parents who FAIL to instruct their children on the merit that you could face jail time, try taking away their TV and video games, or trade their social time for extra study activities; Proverbs 13:24 and 23:13 (NLT) warns us that "Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them... Don’t fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won’t kill them."
Let's face it, no one really likes to deal with the negative consequences of their actions, which for all intents and purposes is a form of discipline. Obviously, your control methods will vary depending on who the offender is; for instance, how you regulate a toddler, will vary greatly from how you would a teenager. Like the passage says, "No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening — it’s painful! But afterward, there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way." I remember I used to HATE listening to my parents lecture me. Although to them, it appeared that everything was going through one ear and out the other, the unwanted reproach was being absorbed; I was able to learn from my mistakes, and once I became an adult living on my own, the Spirit would admonish me of my parents' scolding sessions and I would quickly rethink my next move, making sure to carefully consider the best decision. As an adult now, I appreciate the correction that I endured over the years, because without it, I would not be the woman or mother that I am today; a lack thereof can be linked to all the upheaval and discord of today's generations. The Bible does advise us to "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6).
I Corinthians 9:24-27 (NLT) says, "Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified." Basically, this passage is saying that in whatever capacity our authority may be (parent, teacher, law enforcement, preacher, etc.), that we must be disciplined ourselves before we can discipline someone else - leading by example - lest we want others to walk the wrong path. Essentially, discipline is a part of our preparation process; by definition, discipline is the practice of training others. Why then, do so many people object to discipline, especially when there are so many scriptures that support its practice? Here is what the Word specifically says about the importance of administering and receiving instruction - discipline - "Discipline your children, and they will give you peace of mind and will make your heart glad" (Proverbs 29:17, NLT) and "To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction" (Proverbs 12:1, NLT).
I will end this lesson on "discipline" with these corresponding scriptures taken from the NLT Bible:
- Proverbs 13:1: "A wise child accepts a parent’s discipline; a mocker refuses to listen to correction."
- **Proverbs 3:11-12: "My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when He corrects you. For the Lord corrects those He loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights."**
- Revelation 3:19: "I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference."
- **Proverbs 29:15: "To discipline a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child."
- Proverbs 6:23: "A wise child accepts a parent’s discipline; a mocker refuses to listen to correction."
- **Proverbs 22:15: "For their command is a lamp and their instruction a light; their corrective discipline is the way to life."**
- **Ephesians 6:4: "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord."**
- **Deuteronomy 8:5: "Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good."**
- Job 5:17: "But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin."
- **Proverbs 10:17: "People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray."**
- I Corinthians 11:32: "Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world."

POWER IN PRAYER: Yahweh, we thank you for providing relief for those affected by natural disasters. Father, we praise you for your grace and comfort delivered to those experiencing grief, such as Laneshia; bless Laneshia and her loved ones as well as all of the victims and families of the hurricane who are dealing with bereavement, provide each with comfort and peace, as well as the resources needed to honor those who have passed away with a proper burial. Lord, Tylesha, and others among us have very specific prayers of the heart that require your immediate attention; we thank you for freeing our minds from all the idle thoughts that cloud them, and for providing us with clear, concise, and undeniable answers and solutions to our concerns. Thank you for delivering us from: strongholds, addiction, anger, resentment, heartache, disease, illness, pain, grief, financial debt, stress, anxiety, and depression; thank you for breaking any chains attached to each individual reading or reciting this prayer, and for the people that we stand in intercessory prayer for. We thank you for providing the comfort and complete healing that we have been promised by the stripes of Jesus. In these end times, we appreciate your extra hedge of protection over our children, our households, our modes of transportation, and our surroundings; may we forever be fixed on Jesus, steadfast on your Word and your will, and may we develop and maintain a strong will to transform into the individuals that you have called us to be. Achieve in us the ability to pray game-changing prayers – prayers that change people, change outcomes, and help your will to manifest. We grant your angels permission to do our bidding on earth and we thank you for protecting us from its recourse. For everyone and everything we have failed to pray for, we ask that you do not fail to address the concern. This is our trusted prayer, we submit to you in the matchless name of Yeshua, Amen!
HEALTHY LIVING TIPS ... Change begins within: Recently, the Netflix featured film entitled "What the Health," has been trending on social media; people are converting to veganism left and right. But, I have noticed another trend, many of those same people are failing after only a few weeks, myself included. In my case, I went strongly for about 3-4 months, NOT as a vegan, but as a vegetarian. Unfortunately for me, my lack of experience in shopping for and cooking vegetarian/vegan meals led me into buying tons of processed "meat-less meat." As a result, I was feeling extremely fatigued, and because of my strong affection for variety, I grew disinterested in repeating meals, which also led me to develop an unhealthy eating habits; instead of eating 3 times a day, I was skipping meals because I didn't want to eat meat and at the same time, I didn't want to eat what I had eaten the day before. Not-to-mention, I lost 15 pounds, which is far from the weight that I am comfortable with. So, I started eating fish again, and now I'm back to eating meat completely because I do not like my clothes fitting droopy. Yet, I still have the desire to make a complete transition into vegetarianism or veganism. Thus, I researched the topic and discovered that replacing animal-based protein with processed plant-based protein (meat-less meat) is like replacing Coca Cola with Pepsi; over consumption can lead to significant health complications such as gastritis, fatigue, and high cholesterol. The key to getting all the essential vitamins your body needs, naturally and in the most health-conscious sense, is to cook with lots of FRESH and organic ingredients; cooking with fresh veggies and consuming fresh fruit that limits the exposure to chemicals such as pesticides, and consuming protein in the form of beans and nuts instead of dead animal carcases, improve our health the way God intended with the original diet found in the book of Genesis, chapter 1 verse 29 (NLT) "Then God said, 'Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food.'" The reason people who have adopted a PROPER vegan diet express feeling better and more energized, is because they are preparing and cooking with fresh, living foods, and then consuming what they have prepared, rather than trying to cut corners by consuming processed plant-based meals or junk food. Not everyone can succeed when going cold-turkey, no pun intended, so ease into it, research, and be patient with your progress as you develop your techniques.
