Sorry about yesterday yall, I had a severe migraine which hindered my ability to concentrate on the production of the SOD. In fact, it carried over into today, all the way until a little bit before 3 pm. I am doing better at the moment, but I do still have a slight pounding. But it's Friday, so I'll be able to get some much needed rest this weekend. To continue with our Black History Month SOD series, today's person of interest is Maggie Walker (1867-1934). Walker was born and raised in poverty. After high school, she began teaching and then eventually worked for the St. Luke organization. While with St. Luke, she helped it to establish a newspaper, a printing press, an insurance company, and a college educational fund. Walker saw that few if any blacks knew much about finance and investing, and none of them could get loans from white-owned banks. So she set out to convince the community that their money should be pooled and lent out as a savings trust. In 1903 she convinced those who would listen to her to bring together about $9,400 and opened the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank, becoming the first woman of any race to preside over a savings institution at a time when only a handful of women held power in corporations, and she championed the cause of self-sufficient economic empowerment for African Americans. Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome. Do NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity, God Bless!

Passage Romans 6:6-7 (NLT):
"We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin."
Romans 6:8-10 says, "And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God." Once we've accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, we have assurance that death is of our body, but our Spirit will live forever with Christ. Our eternal lives revolve around bringing honor and glory to God, and spreading His Gospel so that every ear may hear about His power before the 2nd coming. Instead of fearing the death of our bodies, we should rejoice and look forward to the deliverance from this wretched world, embracing our new life in the Spirit; accepting Christ affects our worship, fellowship, Bible study, and empathy - every day we become more like Christ. Share Salvation with others, there is more than enough to pass around.
Prayer of the Day:
Lord God we praise your Holy name, thanking you for the blessings in the storm. Father God please reveal to each individual the personal message that you have intended for them to receive from this lesson, and continue to open the eyes, heart, mind, and spirit of those who may still be holding back from allowing you to reveal to them who they really are, and what specific mission you have called them to. We thank you for changed hearts, for restored spirits, for deliverance, joy, and overwhelming peace and understanding. We thank you Father for clarity of our current circumstances, for contentment despite our trials, and for the ability to keep smiling because you have filled us with happiness through your strong presence around us and within us. Father God we thank you for allowing your Spirit to tame our tongue, that the words that depart our mouth are nothing more or less than pleasing in your sight. Hallelujah Father, we give you the highest praise, for every trial that has brought us to the point of deeper spirituality, and for every blessing that allows us to be a blessing to others while giving you all the honor and praise. We thank you in advance for the victory over the adversary, and we submit our affirmation of faith in the name of your Son, Christ Jesus, Amen!
"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." (Psalm 118:8)
