Change Takes Time (9/11/13)

Greetings Everyone,
All honor and glory be to God! Consider this day to be your opportunity to make a change in your life. If you have been maintained the same routine in life and fail to see your desired results, then perhaps it’s time to make a CHANGE. Take time to reevaluate your priorities. Is God first in your life? Do you accept His will over your own? Does your desired outcome fall in-line with the word of God? If you hesitated to say “yes,” then you’re doing something wrong, or lacking reverence to God. If you’re looking for an answer from God, spend some time with Him and allow Him to provide the answer before you attempt to do things in your own will or time. Remember that our blessings from God don’t always come packaged in pretty wrapping. Thus, reflect on what you do have (life, health, strength), NOT the things you want (more of this or that). Assess what you can change (behavior, attitude, physique, etc.), not what you have no control over (the past, your family, death of a loved one, etc.). Allow the Spirit to reveal to you your blessings in disguise, because the answer you’ve impatiently been looking for is probably masked by your lack of faith and/or skepticism in God’s authority.

REMINDER: I'm still seeking volunteers to help build-up my non-profit organization; join my team of volunteers as we work to provide sustenance to those in need (please refer to http://www.fmbs-inc-bytye.org for more information about the organization). If you or someone you know would like to join my team of volunteers, please contact me so that I may set-up an orientation to get you started with your volunteer membership. Our next meeting will be held on September 15th at 3:00 PM in Los Angeles (location will be disclosed upon your RSVP). Additionally, as a group we will be participating in the Brain Tumor Society’s 2nd annual 5k walk/run. FMBS Inc. will be walking/running in honor of my dear friend, Jennifer Robinson, a brain tumor survivor. I would love for you to participate in the walk with us. Contact me with regard to your interest in this event, or simply “register” to “join a team” under my name (Tylesha Allen) or my company’s name (FMBS Inc.) for Team Jenn. If you would rather submit a monetary donation, you are more than welcome to do that as well. Either way, just copy and paste one of these two URL addresses http://www.braintumorcommunity.org/goto/Team_Jenn_R or http://www.braintumorcommunity.org/goto/fmbs_4_Team_Jenn into your Internet browser to read Jennifer’s story, to join Team Jenn, or to make a pledge that will help us reach our fund-raising goal; we would like to raise $1,000 for the cause. So far, we've only reached the $300 mark, so please remember to spread the word about this event. We thank you in advance for SHARING these links with others. Many people have suffered as a result of brain tumors and brain cancers; families and friends of those who fall victim to brain tumors and/or brain cancer are victims themselves. Our efforts will bring researchers that much closer to better treatment, a cure, and will ultimately help to better educate society.

As we continue to work together to spread God’s Gospel, let us also encourage one another to take steps that lead to a healthy overall mind, body, and soul; TRANSFORM your body, mind, and soul by feeding your body healthy nutrition, and being cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirits to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.). Have you fed your spirit today? CHANGE BEGINS WITHINsoSTART YOUR TRANSFORMATION TODAYbecause tomorrow is NOT promised. Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcomeDo NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. God Bless!

Lord please clear our minds, and open our eyes and ears so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Passage – Romans 12:2 (NLT):
"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."

Thoughts for Today:
Climbing out of depression is a process, and it requires perseverance. We must persist in believing God's truth instead of listening to our feelings. We may have thoughts like ‘I'm such a failure. I never do anything right. What's the use?’ Instead of focusing on these negative feelings, we need to intentionally refocus on truths from the Bible: ‘I am special to God. God made me for a purpose. God loves me. He will never leave me. With God, there is always hope. I can do all things through Christ.’”

“Although change takes time, as we persistently choose to believe God's truths instead of our feelings, those truths will become a part of us. Our thinking about ourselves will begin to change. Our relationship with God will grow stronger. And we will find it easier to build healthy relationships.”

“Consider this …”

God gives us help for fighting depression: the truths of the Bible … the Holy Spirit to remind us of those truths … and the people of God to encourage us. We must persistently open our hearts and minds to all these wellsprings of help. Don't give up. You can climb out of depression. As you persist in trusting God, He will show you the way, step by step. And He will give you strength for the climb. With Christ, all things are possible (Philippians 4:13).

Yall ever notice that once you’ve been exposed to God’s truths you are almost instantly tested? For instance, you’ve been praying for patience … you wake up one morning later than usual, you can’t find your keys, your pets pooped all over the house, your kids are asking two thousand questions, and to top it all off there is a major traffic jam. What do you do? Welp, I’ll tell you what I’d do … I would be cursing like the sailor I am. You sure as heck wouldn’t know that I send out inspirational messages via email. That’s the honest truth. There have been moments where I’ve prayed about maintaining my inner peace and confessed that no one will steal my joy, then two seconds later someone says or does something to offend me, and instead of focusing on the positives I allow myself to be consumed by the negatives. When I began today’s salutation, I hadn’t even reviewed the devotional. As I studied its message, I recognized that my opening for this lesson happened to set the tone … That’s just one more piece of evidence supporting God’s presence in our quest for knowledge and wisdom. Now you may or may not be concerned with why I don’t change the end portion of my salutation, nor have I tweaked the prayer in a while, the reason is that I believe those words are pivotal to our transformation – repetition is vital to our ability to grasp concepts in depth, and only enhances our willingness to put said concepts into practice. Be encouraged!

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. We ask for forgiveness of everything that we have thought, said, or did, that was not pleasing in your sight. Give us the strength we need to forgive those who have wronged us, the same way you continuously grant forgiveness to us. Also, place upon those we may have wronged, the same desire that we too may be forgiven by them. More importantly Father, whatever guilt we place on self, allow us to release so that we may forgive ourselves. Father, it took us a long time to sink into this level of depression, and we know climbing out of it will take time as well. Help us not to give up. Help us to focus on the truths of your Word. Please transform each of us into a new person by changing the way we think and react. Help us to release all negativity stored within. Bless us with a double portion of your Spirit Father. Close every unnecessary door that is open in our lives, and open supernatural doors to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness. Provide each of us with clear and concise revelations that we need in order to overcome the adversary. Help us to see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation. Help us to reevaluate our lifestyles, and to rearrange our priorities, placing you at the top of our list. Provide discernment to know the difference between good and bad, right from wrong, and your will vs. our own desires. We thank you for provision, guidance, and protection from Satan’s attacks. By the authority in our words, we reverse all the negativity spoken into existence within our individual lives and the lives of our loved ones and associates. We take back everything the enemy has stolen from us, and bind every evil and malicious plot, plan, and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus. Lord we also grant your angels permission to do our bidding on Earth without recourse. Transform us into an image that mirrors Jesus, so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. This is our affirmation of faith Father God; we submit our petition to you in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Respectfully,
