It just goes to show how putting words in a different context can take on an entirely different meaning than what was originally intended. All kidding aside, scripture is often taken out of context—sometimes with the best intentions—sometimes not. Since the beginning, Satan has twisted the scriptural text to deceive and distort. He did so in the Garden of Eden. He did so in the wilderness with Christ (to no avail). And he does so today. Jesus was able to withstand Satan’s snares because of His own understanding of the scriptures. But many have fallen for the devil’s deceptions, mostly due to a lack of scriptural knowledge. For whatever reason, there are too many people today twisting the scripture to accommodate personal viewpoints. The Bible tells us to study to show ourselves approved (refer to II Timothy 2:15) so that we learn and understand the Gospel as the Spirit guides us to, that we may spread the Word appropriately bringing awareness to the vast population as well as honor and glory to God. Face it, if you were asked to teach a course on a subject you were unfamiliar with, would your lesson not be based on assumptions and hearsay? The same goes for the Word; if you are not knowledgeable in the scriptures, then you will NOT be able to discern its true message. Jesus spoke in parables (refer to Matthew 13:34) to keep those who continually rejected His message, in spiritual darkness while His disciples were able to spiritually discern the truth. Matthew 13:10-17 says, "His disciples came and asked him, 'Why do you use parables when you talk to the people?' He replied, 'You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. That is why I use these parables, For they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand. This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says, ‘When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them. But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.'" False prophets will continue to distort God's Word to influence you to turn away from Him. While others, such as faulty pastors, may use the Bible to their advantage preying on unsuspecting believers. For example, there was an inmate housed at my work facility who was a minister and doctor; unbeknownst to her patients and staff, she developed a concoction of beef flavor and sunscreen, which she sold to desperate individuals as a FALSE alternative cure for cancer. People trusted her because she was a minister and doctor; everyone involved was unaware that her product was made from random ingredients and did NOT cure, nor did it treat cancer patients. Another minister named Peter Popoff, uses scripture to lure people into "obedience" by sending various amount of money that will then "overflow" later in "abundance" and "healing". Without a true understanding of God's word, we CANNOT share it properly with others, nor will we be able to discern when the enemy has tainted the Word to influence, develop, or encourage our continued sinful nature, and disobedience to God.
Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. We thank you for the strength we need to forgive those who have wronged us, the same way you continuously grant us forgiveness, and for placing upon those we have wronged the same desire, that we too may be forgiven by them. More so Father, we thank you for removing the guilt we once placed on self, and for removing every thought that has held us captive in our own minds. We thank you for transforming our image into one that mirrors Jesus, so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. Thanks for blessing us with a double portion of your Spirit, and for closing every unnecessary door that is open in our lives. Thanks for opening supernatural doors in our lives that lead to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness. We thank you for providing each of us with the clear and concise revelations we need in order to overcome the adversary. Thanks for helping us to see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation, and for the courage to rearrange our priorities, placing you at the top of our list. We thank you for discernment to know the difference between good and bad, right from wrong, and your will vs. our own desires. Thanks for provision, guidance, and protection from Satan’s attacks. By the authority in our words, we reverse all the negativity spoken into existence within our individual lives and the lives of our loved ones and associates. We take back everything the enemy has stolen from us, and bind every evil and malicious plot, plan, and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus. Lord we also grant your angels permission to do our bidding on Earth without recourse. This is our affirmation of faith Father God; we submit our petition to you and thank you in advance for working it all out. All these things we claim in the name of Jesus, Amen!
