The Enemy is NOT the Flesh (3/18/2014)

Greetings Everyone,
All honor and glory be to God for providing us with another day of endless opportunities. I hope your week is going well so far, if not, remember that although it could be better, it could also be much worse. REMINDER: production gaps for the SOD will continue until I am able to invest in a more reliable computer system. Also, if you or someone you know are interested in helping out my organization, we have a community service event commencing on March 30th and we are in need of toiletry items for male and females, bibles, bottled water, and sealed food items (e.g. jerky, peanut butter crackers, trail mix, etc.). The deadline to purchase any year-round See's Candies items is next Thursday; if you want to place an order get with myself or one of my reps, providing your item number and funds (refer to the attached pre-sale item form). Additionally, please continue to remember me in prayer as the Spirit leads. I thank you in advance for your understanding, your prayers, and your contributions. Now let's move forward to our healthy living tips... "Mushrooms: Some growers give mushrooms a few quick bursts of ultraviolet light to dramatically increase their vitamin D levels, from zilch to a powerhouse that provides up to 100 percent of the recommended daily amount. Look at package nutrition labels to see how much of the sunshine vitamin they contain" (Simon, N. (2013, December). Surprising health benefits of 12 everyday foods. AARP The Magazine. TRANSFORM your body, mind, and soul TODAY because tomorrow is NOT promised; by feeding your body healthy nutrition, and being cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirits to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.), YOU can start anew and become a better you. CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN... Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome. Do NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "be the change that you want to see in the world." Have a blessed rest of the week.

Lord please clear our minds, and open our eyes and ears so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Passage - Ephesians 6:12:
"For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places."

Normally I piggyback on daily devotionals written by Randy Chambers, but this morning, on a quest for some encouragement of my own, I ran across a woman's devotional on http://www. biblegateway.com. Initially, I printed the devotional with the intent to read it later during my down-time at work. However, I had noticed the message was geared toward mothers, which made me change my mind. Then suddenly, I felt an urge to
read the devotional anyway, and was inspired to write today's lesson - The Enemy is NOT the Flesh. FYI, this lesson is inspired by the devotional I read, not posted verbatim nor paraphrased (refer to the reference listed at the end). Okay, let's continue on with the message... sometimes when we are faced with challenges or circumstances that are beyond our comprehension, such as marital disputes, problematic children, drama in the workplace, etc., we attribute our misfortunes to the individual(s) in which we are spatting with, rather than blaming the adversary for said chaos. But Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that "we are NOT fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world" - we're talking about Satan and his minions here; when your spirit grows weary and you want to just give up on your situation or an individual, take a moment to STOP AND THINK! In boot camp, Corps School rather, that is what the instructors told us to do when we missed a step in our practical exams - "stop and think," which allowed us to reassess the process and ensure that we were taking the right approach. So whatever your situation may be, and with whomever it may be with, REMEMBER that the enemy is NOT the individual you are conflicting with, NOR is it the battle itself; rather, the enemy is an evil force that has YOU and GOD as its opponents, whose power and authority far exceeds its own. The adversary is persistent in his attempts to destroy God's people, especially when he sees an increase in our desire and efforts to strengthen our walk with Christ. Perhaps God does want you to let go of your situation or the individual(s) you blame for the misfortunes in your life. Or, maybe He is simply trying to reveal something to you. First and foremost, STOP AND THINK! Then PRAY WITHOUT CEASING (refer to I Thessalonians 5:17) and BE STILL as you wait patiently on GOD to work out His plan in His time; stop trying to work things out in your own strength, if you're ready to throw-in the towel, make sure you throw it God's way. Here I will piggyback on the prayers McGlothlin shared in her devotional, but I've tweaked it a bit to fit the flow of this lesson. James 5:16 says, "... The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results"; pray over your situation and the individual(s) you attribute them to. The proceeding list are prayers you can recite by simply replacing the "him/her and he/she with the individual(s) you are clashing with:
  • create in him/her a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within him/her (refer to Psalm 51:10
  • may he/she walk after you God, keeping your commends and obeying your voice (refer to Deuteronomy 13:4)
  • may he/she walk before you with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing so according to your will (refer to I Kings 9:4)
  • may he/she lead by example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity (refer to I Timothy 4:12)
  • Lord, thank you for giving me the tools of your Word and prayer to fight the battle for his/hers' hearts. Help me to see who my real enemy is when I am in conflict, and may you be glorified in all that I do - in the name of Jesus, Amen.

So the next time you find yourself in an unfavorable predicament, or you feel like you and someone else are at odds, STOP AND THINK; consider who your real enemy is, and how it is perpetuating the situation and influencing your emotions and reactions in that moment. Then reflect on Exodus 14:14 which says, "The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm," and Galatians 6:9, "So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. We thank you for the strength we need to forgive those who have wronged us, the same way you continuously grant us forgiveness, and for placing upon those we have wronged the same desire, that we too may be forgiven by them. More so Father, we thank you for removing the guilt we once placed on self, and for removing every thought that has held us captive in our own minds. We thank you for transforming our image into one that mirrors Jesus, so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. Thanks for blessing us with a double portion of your Spirit, and for closing every unnecessary door that is open in our lives. Thanks for opening supernatural doors in our lives that lead to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness. We thank you for providing each of us with the clear and concise revelations we need in order to overcome the adversary. Thanks for helping us to see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation, and for the courage to rearrange our priorities, placing you at the top of our list. We thank you for discernment to know the difference between good and bad, right from wrong, and your will vs. our own desires. Thanks for provision, guidance, and protection from Satan’s attacks. By the authority in our words, we reverse all the negativity spoken into existence within our individual lives and the lives of our loved ones and associates. We take back everything the enemy has stolen from us, and bind every evil and malicious plot, plan, and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus. Lord we also grant your angels permission to do our bidding on Earth without recourse. This is our affirmation of faith Father God; we submit our petition to you and thank you in advance for working it all out. All these things we claim in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Respectfully,
Tylesha "Tye" Allen
