Changing Truth? (11/20/2014)

Sup yall? Hope your week has been fantastic thus far. If not, it's because you have chosen to react to life with a less-than positive outlook. Who knows if we'll have another chance at it, so use the NOW to adjust your attitude, and start making lemonade with the lemons life throws your way. PRAYER REQUESTS: Please pray for the other SOD recipients including myself, thank you. ANNOUNCEMENTS: I have THREE more days to rally-up a deserving family or two, to become one of this year's meal box recipients. I have not received any nominations as of yet. Preparation of the meal boxes (purchasing supplies, etc.), which will include all the essential items to prepare a complete Thanksgiving meal for a family of up to 6, does not commence until after the deserving family(ies) is selected. If you know of a family(ies) in true need of assistance this holiday, please provide their contact information to me right away. If you would like to make a monetary donation or a contribution instead, you may submit those items and/or any recipient nominations NLT November 23rd, to allow time for us to prepare the meal boxes and have them delivered to the recipient family(ies) prior to Thanksgiving day (meal box items are not pre-cooked). I'm also interested in volunteering this Thanksgiving, so if you have any leads please forward those to me as well. Remember that in order for your Ralph's and/or Food 4 Less Rewards Cards or phone numbers to be linked to a non-profit organization, in which a small donation will be contributed per each purchase, you must register your reward cards and/or phone numbers annually. If you participated in this program last year, I appreciate your efforts and contributions, and would like to solicit your continued support annually. So, if you haven't already done so, please take a moment to re-register and link your Ralph's and/or Food 4 Less Reward Cards and/or phone numbers to my non-profit organization, Fostering Mind, Body, and Soul Incorporated, to help us raise money throughout the year which assists us in funding our daily operations; simply follow the steps below, and please share this information/process with others. Thanks in advance for your continued support and/or contribution(s):

HEALTHY LIVING TIPS:
For those of your struggling with anxiety, depression, or some other mood disorder, I hope the following may prove beneficial in your search for alternative treatment... "Some ingredients in food bear a strong similarity to valproic acid, a prescription mood-stabilizing drug, says scientist Karina Martinez-Mayorga, PhD, leader of a research team that has been studying the effects of flavors on mood, at the 244th National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society... "Molecules in chocolate, a variety of berries and foods containing omega-3 fatty acids have shown positive effects on mood," she says (para. 1). Although warning that foods are not substitutes for prescribed drugs, she and other scientists say there’s plenty of emerging evidence foods can change mood (para. 2). Fish is brain food, especially anchovies, a source of the brain chemical precursor dimethylaminoethanol (sold as a nootropic agent called DMAE). High protein meals are popular for breakfast for a quite practical reason. Meals with protein counter fatigue and increase brain activity according to Susan Bowerman, MS, RD... Protein sources she recommends include Greek yogurt and beef from grass-fed cattleAromatic coffee in the morning adds energetic alertness. Inhale the rich aroma’s flavorful antioxidants to raise brain levels of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase and counter age-related dementia that brings on the blues (para. 3). Folate, a B vitamin, fights off depression, so eat plenty of romaine lettuceasparagus, beets and beansGreen leafy veggies like spinach, chard and mustard greens contain magnesium, also a depression antidote, say doctors in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry. Just two cups daily of hot chocolate, rich in flavonoids that are found in cacao (the source of chocolate), will keep the brain’s thinking skills intact while increasing blood flow to this vital organ, offering a simple method of improving neurological function, say researchers in the online issue of Neurology (para. 4). Green tea contains the amino acid theanine, sold as a dietary supplement, for focus and concentration. Theanine relaxes brain waves so is thought to increase focus. Coldwater fish such as herring, mackerel and salmon supply omega-3s; in dietary supplement form, omega-3s are as effective as lithium for bipolar disorder patients, according to clinical research. Epidemiological studies show that people who eat the most seafood, particularly salmon, trout and other sources of omega-3s, have the best mood scores (para. 5)" (Healthy Living Media Group Inc. BE ENCOURAGED: TRANSFORM your body, mind, and soul TODAY because tomorrow is NOT promised; by feeding your body healthy nutrition, and being cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.), YOU can start anew and become a better you. CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN... Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome. Do NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "be the change that you want to see in the world." Have a blessed rest of the week.

Lord please clear our minds, and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

PASSAGE - COLOSSIANS 2:20-22:
"Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?"

REFLECTIONS:
"There is a difference in the truth, and in the perception of the truth. And yet, it is not Truth that changes. Truth is not relative, becoming what it is in the eye of the beholder. God’s Truth remains constant; it is complete and absolute in Him. Imagine if all you know, or think you know, was found to be wrong. You suddenly are at a loss and have nowhere to turn--nowhere except for God, that is. Does that thought comfort, or trouble you? Are you willing to let all you think you know come under the close scrutiny of the Holy Spirit? Are you willing to “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding?” So much of how we live the Christian life is steeped in “human commands and teachings” of men. Are we willing to let how we perceive the Truth concerning God’s church to come under the scrutiny of the Holy Spirit? How far would we go to ensure His church is His? And when all is said and done, how much are we willing to give up of our own perceptions of His Truth?" (Chambers, R. (2014, November 20). Changing truth? [Web log comment]. Retrieved from http://reflections.daybyday.org/)

It's funny because I was thinking just the other day, how we often tell partial truths - we tend to omit details or embellish others, so that the perception of what we are saying, is accepted by the hearer as truth. Let me ask you this, if you were being who you are when you feel that no one is judging you, would someone lurking in the dark be able to see through your behavior, that you are a child of Christ? Interestingly enough, it is our way of living - our attitude, our mood, or actions and reactions - that is supposed to be the telltale of what Master we serve. Let's get to the nitty gritty though... just because we hit up church on the weekend, and maybe during the week; just because others know us to be God fearing; just because we keep some of God's commands in the company of others, does NOT attest to our being Christ-like or notIt is in what we think, do, and say that the Father judges us; whether our wrongdoings are known to those around us or not, and whether or not others perceive us to be good doers of the Word, the truth is unaltered before the Lord.

"... Christian growth is a lifelong process. Although we have a new nature [once we accept Christ as our savior], we don't automatically have all good thoughts and attitudes when we become new people in Christ. But if we keep listening to God, we will be changing all the time... Change may be slow, but your life will change significantly if you trust God to change you... NO keeping of [man-made] laws or rules will earn salvation... Christianity [being Christ-like] focuses on Christ's work [a by-product of our new life in Christ]...(Tyndale House Publishers. (2004). Colossians. Life Application Study Bible: King James Version: Notes 2:20-23 (pp. 1810). Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.).

PRAYER OF THE DAY:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. Thanks for strength needed to forgive those who have wronged us, just as you continuously grant us forgiveness. Place upon those we have wronged the same desire, that we too may be forgiven by them. Whatever guilt we've place on self, allow us to release so that we may also forgive ourselves. Father, we thank you for your patience. We know that we've been hanging on to some things in this life, insisting on doing things our way instead of yours. But we know that your way truly is the best, so help us to submit to your way completely. Transform us into a mirror image of Jesus so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. Provide each of us with the clear and concise revelations we need in order to overcome the adversary. Help us to see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation. Help us to reevaluate our lifestyles, and to rearrange our priorities, placing you at the top of our list. Thank you for provision, guidance, and protection from Satan’s attacks. By the authority in our words, we reverse all the negativity spoken into existence within our individual lives and the lives of our loved ones and associates. We bind now every evil and malicious plot, plan, and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus, and grant your angels permission to do our bidding on Earth; we ask that you protect us from recourse. This is our affirmation of faith Father God; we submit our petition to you in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Respectfully,
