I pray that everyone had a wonderfully blessed weekend. PRAYER REQUESTS: Continue to pray for the other SOD recipients including myself, thank you. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Unfortunately, I did NOT receive any nominations for this year's Thanksgiving meal box. However, there will be another campaign held in the same manner for Christmas; I will solicit nominations for deserving families not only to receive a meal box, but also one gift for each child living in the household. If you have any families in mind, it is NOT too early to submit your nominations, contributions, and/or monetary donations.
HEALTHY LIVING TIPS:
Sunday I had a pretty good workout, but ended up straining my hamstrings, calves, and neck. Although, I believe the strain in my neck was a result of a bad sleep position, I am positive the strain in my calves and hamstrings were a direct result of insufficient stretching. Thus, my healthy living tip for yall is, not only to encourage proper form when selecting your exercise routines, but to also stretch before and after your workouts. A quick 1-2-minute warm-up will help avoid muscle injury as well. Generally speaking, a fitness trainer would encourage stretching plus a warm-up pre-workout, and cool-down plus stretching post-workout. So, if you're pressed for time, but want to get an effective workout without injury, which will lead to your having to rest for muscle-rebuild, manage your time effectively; if all you have is 15 minutes to spare, then set aside four minutes for your pre and post-workout stretching, and use the remaining minutes to put 110% into your exercise routine - push yourself to your limit - make the most of the time you can spare, without compromising time to adequately stretch before and after your workout.

BE ENCOURAGED: TRANSFORM your body, mind, and soul TODAY because tomorrow is NOT promised; by feeding your body healthy nutrition, and being cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.), YOU can start anew and become a better you. CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN... Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome. Do NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "be the change that you want to see in the world." Have a blessed rest of the week.
Lord please clear our minds, and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
PASSAGE - MATTHEW 4:4:
"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible***
REFLECTIONS:
"When tempted with the quick solution, where do we turn? We know that the solution that is the easiest is not always the best. Jesus, though faced with great hunger, could have easily turned the rocks in the desert into bread. He chose however to look to the Word of God for His solution. He determined that taking the easy way was in effect going to put God to a test. The devil tried to get Jesus to use God's power in a selfish manner to do something outside of the will of God, this so He (Jesus) could get what He needed quickly. Had Jesus not seen through the deceit, He might have succumbed to temptation and in so doing would have destroyed His ability to become the unblemished sacrificial Lamb who would take away the sins of the world. Choosing the Word of God over our own understanding may not always seem to satisfy us in the present, but the fruits we reap will more than satisfy us in the long run--and there after" (Chambers, R. (2014, November 25). Lasting effects [Web log comment]. Retrieved from http://reflections.daybyday.org/).
"Jesus was hungry and weak after fasting for 40 days, but He chose not to use His divine power to satisfy His natural desire for food. Food, hunger, and eating are good, but the timing was wrong... We also may be tempted to satisfy a perfectly normal desire in a wrong way or at a wrong time. If we indulge in sex before marriage or if we steal to get food, we are trying to satisfy God-given desires in wrong ways... God wants us to satisfy them [normal desires] in the right way and the right time. Jesus was able to resist all of Satan's temptations because He not only knew Scripture, but He also obeyed it. Ephesians 6:17 says that God's Word is a sword to use in spiritual combat. Knowing Bible verses is an important step in helping us resist Satan's attacks, but we must obey [God's commands]. Note that Satan has memorized scripture, but he failed to obey it. Knowing and obeying the Bible helps us follow God's desires rather than Satan's" (Tyndale House Publishers. (2004). Matthew. Life Application Study Bible: King James Version: Notes 4:3, 4 (pp. 1338). Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.).
That being said, rest assured that I am in NO way trying to convince or convey that I am better than thou. NOR am I trying to insinuate that I am a saint - because I am quite aware without a doubt, that I am a sinner. My intent is to share what the Word says, and to spiritually grow with each of you. Seeing as how "Christian" is a man-made definition for the followers of Christ - NOT as defined by Jesus Himself - NONE of us will ever meet the criteria of being an exemplary Christian in the eyes of society. Because every individual has his or her own meaning and idea of what a true Christian should look and act like, it is impossible for us to embody such a broad spectrum by definition. Hence the importance of knowing and obeying the Word; the Word is direct and universal, and when we know and abide by it, we will begin to transform and become Christ-like, which is the most effective definition of what it means to be a Christian. Additionally, having that shield of armor [the Word of God], we'll be endless in our abilities to defeat the adversary. It is imperative for us to know the Word like the back of our hands, because in order to not be confused or tempted by the enemy's ability to twist the truth, we must know and practice it ourselves firsthand.
PRAYER OF THE DAY:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. We thank you for a 180 degree turn-around which transforms our image into one that mirrors Jesus, so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. Thanks for blessing us with a double portion of your Spirit, and for closing every unnecessary door that is open in our lives. Thanks for opening supernatural doors in our lives that lead to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness. We thank you for providing each of us with the clear and concise revelations we need in order to overcome the adversary. Thanks for helping us to see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation. We thank you for discernment to know the difference between good and bad, right from wrong, and your will vs. our own desires. Thanks for provision, guidance, and protection from Satan’s attacks. By the authority in our words, we reverse all the negativity spoken into existence within our individual lives and the lives of our loved ones and associates. We take back everything the enemy has stolen from us, and bind every evil and malicious plot, plan, and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus. Lord we also grant your angels permission to do our bidding on Earth, and asking you for protection from recourse. This is our affirmation of faith Father God; we submit our petition to you, thanking you in advance for working it all out. All these things we claim in the name of Jesus, Amen!
Respectfully,
