Under Construction (11/17/2014)

Hello everyone, I pray that yall enjoyed the weekend. PRAYER REQUESTS: Please continue to pray for me and the other SOD recipients as the Spirit leads. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Times a'ticking... I'm still preparing for my annual distribution of Thanksgiving Meal Boxes to selected families, still require names/info for 2-4 families that possess a true need for assistance; my non-profit organization will provide the selected family(ies) with all the essential items to prepare a complete Thanksgiving meal. If you know of a deserving family(ies), provide their contact information that they may be evaluated for consideration as one of this year's meal box recipients. Please submit any monetary donations, food contributions, and/or recipient nominations NLT November 23rd, to allow time for us to prepare the meal boxes and have them delivered to the recipient family(ies) prior to the holiday. I'm also interested in volunteering this Thanksgiving, so if you have any leads please forward those to me as well. Remember that in order for your Ralph's and/or Food 4 Less Rewards Cards or phone numbers to be linked to a non-profit organization, in which a small donation will be contributed per each purchase, you must register your reward cards and/or phone numbers annually. If you did so last year, I appreciate your efforts and contributions, and would like to solicit your continued support annually. So, if you haven't already done so, please take a moment to re-register and link your Ralph's and/or Food 4 Less Reward Cards and/or phone numbers to my non-profit organization, Fostering Mind, Body, and Soul Incorporated, to help us raise money throughout the year which assists us in funding our daily operations; simply follow the steps below, and please share this information/process with others. HEALTHY LIVING TIPS:
I know that many of you have an urge to eat or snack right before bed, so if you're one to indulge at bedtime, according to Prevention Magazine, here are a few appropriate snacks... "(1) Whole Grain Graham Cracker Topped With Cottage Cheese And Sliced Kiwi - Why it works: This carb and protein duo lulls you to sleep; (2) Small Bowl Of Rice - Why it works: New research in PLOS One shows that a diet containing rice is associated with a decreased risk of poor sleep by up to 46%, compared to bread (which had no effect) or noodles (which made sleep quality worse); (3) Ham And Cheese Roll Up - Why it works: A small slice of cheese and one slice of tryptophan-packed ham will only set you back around 100 calories, enough to stop late-night stomach rumbles, but not so much that it will pack on the pounds; (4) Tart Cherry Juice Why it works: The fruit is a rich source of melatonin, a sleep-regulating hormone, as well as antioxidants that control zzz-zapping inflammation; (5) Handful Of Walnuts - Why it works: Just like cherry juice, walnuts are rife with melatonin—and eating them has been proven to increase levels in your blood, according a study in Nutrition. That's just the thing you need to improve your sleep-wake cycle, so you can drift off with ease; (6) Banana Smoothie - Why it works: A blend of banana and low-fat milk, this smoothie supplies vitamin D and calcium. These two nutrients have been associated with decreased odds of having problems falling and staying asleep—plus it's an excellent source of magnesium and B6, a vitamin that aids your body in making serotonin, a relaxing neurotransmitter" (Migala, J. BE ENCOURAGED: TRANSFORM your body, mind, and soul TODAY because tomorrow is NOT promised; by feeding your body healthy nutrition, and being cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.), YOU can start anew and become a better you. CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN... Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome. Do NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "be the change that you want to see in the world." Have a blessed rest of the week.

Lord please clear our minds, and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

PASSAGE - PHILIPPIANS 1:6:
"Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."

***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible***

REFLECTIONS:
"Take a good look in the mirror. What do you see? Does what you see make you happy? Sad? Do you look at yourself and think about who you are, what you are, or what you have accomplished? Do you see yourself clearly? That’s the question now, isn’t it? Sometimes it would seem that the mirror holds a better image of who we are than that which we hold of ourselves. Many things often distort our opinions of ourselves. But take comfort. God’s not through with you yet. You are truly a work in progress. The scripture tells us not to be anxious for anything. Our personal growth is no different. Just like with everything else, you have to place yourself in the caring and capable hands of God. He began a good work in you--and He will be faithful to complete it" (Chambers, R. (2014, November 17). Under construction [Web log comment]. Retrieved from http://reflections.daybyday.org/)

This is an interesting SOD, because as I've shared with yall on other occasions, I have self-esteem issues. Most of them have developed with time, however, I realized through my psychology studies, that many of them were triggered by traumatic incidents from my childhood and adolescence. Yes, I'm still struggling with internal issues with self... When I look in the mirror, most days I don't really care for what I see. And when I evaluate my life and my so-called accomplishments (society's definition of success and achievements), I'm typically dissatisfied or disappointed with where I'm at in life, because I would prefer a much different lifestyle. The issue here is my use of the letter "I." Life isn't about what self wants, but what God's purpose is for us to accomplish in it. No, I am not satisfied with what so many see as my accomplishments. No, do not look at myself in the mirror with delight. And, I certainly do not look at my life with contentment. Why? Because keep viewing this life with a selfish view. But what I do know is that I have a family, a significant other, friends, and other loved ones who value me just as I am. Some even find inspiration in what I have overcome and what they deem as achievements. My discouraged outlook with my life stems from my past, and my insecurities in making sure I stop procrastinating in this life; I simply desires to put forth 110% at being who God has called me to be. What I have realized, but have obviously failed to accept, is that God is NOT done with me. I am very grateful that God doesn't give up on me the way that I lose hope in times of trouble. If God's placement of value in our lives centered around that which we place in ourselves, HMPH! We'd be on our own in this world. Yet, despite our many flaws, our lack of faithfulness and our deliberate disobedience, God continues to offer us love, peace, deliverance, forgiveness, and overflowing blessings. If you thought God gave up on you, be reminded of Philippians 1:6.

"God's work for us began when Christ died on the cross to forgive our sins. His work in us began when we first believed. Now the Holy Spirit lives in us, enabling us to be more like Christ every day... Christian growth and maturity begins when we accept Jesus and continues until Christ returns... God will help you grow in grace until He has completed His work in your life. When you are discouraged, remember that God won't give up on you. He promises to finish the work He has begin. When you feel incomplete, unfinished, or distressed by your shortcomings, remember God's promise and provision. Don't let your present condition rob you of the joy of knowing Christ or keep you from growing closer to Him(Tyndale House Publishers. (2004). Philippians. Life Application Study Bible: King James Version: Notes 1:6 (pp. 1794). Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.).

PRAYER OF THE DAY:
Father God we begin by thanking you for our goings and our comings - for those blessings we acknowledge, and especially those that go unrecognized. We thank you for the courage needed to forgive those who have wronged us, the same way you continuously grant us forgiveness, and for placing upon those we have wronged the same desire, that we too may be forgiven by them for our wrongdoings. We thank you for forgiving us for everything that we have thought, said, or did that was not pleasing to you. We appreciate your deliverance from our burdens, heartache, pain and suffering, financial instability, depression and anxiety, and from addiction(s). We are grateful to you for opening our eyes and hearts, so that we may recognize when you are speaking to us and trying to provide the peace that passeth all understanding, as you provide us with necessary revelations, and guidance to lead us into much needed spiritual growth. Thank for restoring us physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally and for leading us to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness. Thank you for placing your hedge of protection around us individually, around our surroundings, our homes, our modes of transportation, and that of our loved ones. By the authority in our words, we bind every evil and malicious plot, plan, and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus. We grant your angels permission to do our bidding on Earth now, and thank you for your protection from recourse. Lord whatever individuals or issues we have failed to pray for, we ask that you do not fail to address those concerns. We claim these things, and submit our affirmation of faith to you God, in the name of Jesus, Amen!
