Hello everyone, I hope your week has started off greatly, and if you think not, reflect on the positive things in your life, then reassess just how wonderful your days living have really been. I'm still preparing for my annual distribution of Thanksgiving Meal Boxes to selected families, still require names/info for 2-4 families that possess a true need for assistance; my non-profit organization will provide the selected family(ies) with all the essential items to prepare a complete Thanksgiving meal. Please submit any monetary donations, food contributions, and/or recipient nominations NLT November 23rd, to allow time for us to prepare the meal boxes and have them delivered to the recipient family(ies) prior to the holiday. I'm also interested in volunteering this Thanksgiving, so if you have any leads please forward those to me as well. HEALTHY LIVING TIPS:
"Did you know that one-third of the world’s sugar supply comes not from sugar cane, but from a special variety of beets known as the sugar beet? Beets are both sweet and earthy tasting and pair well with other root vegetables as well as with tangy-sweet fruits like pineapple. While most beets are deep red in color, there are a number of beet varieties that range in color from white to yellow to red (pp. 1) . If you’re shopping for fresh beets, choose smaller beets over larger, tougher beets, and pass over any beets that are cracked, shriveled or look very dry. Once your beets are home, you can refrigerate them in a perforated plastic bag, separate from the greens, for up to three weeks. Wash both the roots and leaves before using to remove any soil still clinging to them (pp. 2). You can either enjoy your beets raw on salads or sandwiches or cook them in any variety of ways, including boiling, baking, sauteing with other vegetables, or even pickling (pp. 3). Beets are a great source of folate, the b-vitamin known for its role in preventing birth defects in growing fetuses. The root of the beet is also a good source of iron, potassium and magnesium, although an abundance of nutrition actually lies in its leafy greens. Beet greens are also higher in potassium, magnesium, vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin, and vitamin B6 than the root (pp. 4)" (LifeScript Editorial Staff. (2014, September). Beet basics. LifeScript. BE ENCOURAGED: TRANSFORM your body, mind, and soul TODAY because tomorrow is NOT promised; by feeding your body healthy nutrition, and being cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.), YOU can start anew and become a better you. CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN... Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcome. Do NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "be the change that you want to see in the world." Have a blessed rest of the week.
Lord please clear our minds, and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
PASSAGE - GENESIS 50:19-20:
"And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive."
***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible***
REFLECTIONS:
"It has been said, that when life hands you lemons, you should make lemonade. Not all of us are quickly comforted by such positive thinking. However, most of us might agree that we would like to more readily adopt a positive attitude, look at the bright side, and somehow find the better good regardless of the bitter bad. This may hardly be possible for you, but Jesus tells us that "all things are possible with God." Of that we can be certain. And not only that, but with God, "all things are worked together for the good, to them that love God, to them that are called according to His purpose." Let's face it-life is filled with lemons, but there is a sweetness to be found in a deeper joy that comes from knowing that God is still in control. He still has your best interest at heart. He still loves you today as He did yesterday. And most assuredly so, He can still work even the most sour of situations around in a way that will bring out the sweetest satisfaction" (Chambers, R. (2014, November 18). The sweetest satisfaction [Web log comment]. Retrieved from http://reflections.daybyday.org/).
"God brought good from the brothers' evil deed, Potiphar's wife's false accusation, the butler's neglect, and seven years of famine. The experiences in Joseph's life taught him that God brings good from evil for those who trust Him. Do you trust God enough to wait patiently for Him to bring good from the bad that happens to you? You can trust Him because, as Joseph learned, God can transform evil into good" (Tyndale House Publishers. (2004). Genesis. Life Application Study Bible: King James Version: Notes 50:20 (pp. 88). Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.).
If you are still questioning why things are not going as you would desire them to go in your life, then it's quite possible that you lack a wholehearted trust in the Lord. After all, if your trust was fully in Him, then one, your desires would fall in line with His will. Thus, with your wants lined up with the will of God, then you wouldn't be confused about an unfavorable circumstance; the peace that passeth all understanding would be embedded within you. Two, your desires wouldn't be selfish, they would be selfless, and your genuine concern would be abiding by God's commands - true faith in God will continue to motivate and inspire us to be better and to do better as His children, without doubt in His promise. So if you are still in search of the sweetest satisfaction, then you may want to look deeper within and make some self adjustments - allow God to transform you according to His will, and you will then begin to personally witness Genesis 50:19-20 in its fruition.
PRAYER OF THE DAY:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. We thank you for the courage we need to forgive those who have wronged us, the same way you continuously grant us forgiveness, and for placing upon those we have wronged the same desire, that we too may be forgiven by them. More so Father, we thank you for removing the guilt we once placed on self, and for removing every thought that has held us captive in our own minds. We thank you for transforming our image into one that mirrors Jesus, so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. Thanks for blessing us with a double portion of your Spirit, and for closing every unnecessary door that is open in our lives. Thanks for leading us to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness, and for providing each of us with the clear and concise revelations we need in order to overcome the adversary. Thanks for helping us to see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation, and for the strength to rearrange our priorities, placing you at the top of our list. We thank you for discernment to know the difference between good and bad, right from wrong, and your will vs. our own desires. Thanks for provision, guidance, and protection from Satan’s attacks. We grant your angels permission to do our bidding on Earth, and ask that you protect us from recourse. This is our affirmation of faith Father God; we claim all these things and submit our petition to you with reverence, in the name of Jesus, Amen!
Respectfully,
Tylesha "Tye" Allen
