Beliefs and Practices (1/4/12)

Greetings Everyone,
All honor and glory to God! Hey yall, please pray for the Carp family, as the spirit leads, and also pray for me for better employment opportunities; my train vouchers were decreased, and I found out that I keep disqualifying for advancement positions within my agency, because the type of paper that my school transcripts are printed on, the institution name is only visible face-to-face, thus what is seen on the faxed, scanned, or copied documents is "unofficial copy" which automatically makes me ineligible for any positions, since they cannot verify the school name or its accreditation and they do not allow us to mail in documents; please pray for a much needed door to be opened, thanks in advance. Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcomeDo NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity, God Bless!

Passage James 3:5-8 (NLT):
"In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison."

The ONLY way to lead a good life is to remain rooted in God's word by studying, and applying the Word to our daily lives. James 1:26-27 says, "If you claim to be religious but don't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." This same passage is translated in The Message as follows, "Anyone who sets himself up as "religious" by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air. Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world." What is the definition of religion? Religion can be defined as "a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects" (Dictionary.com). With this definition, you see that religion isn't merely a belief, but also an act. We spoke a little about this yesterday; in addition to studying the Word, we must also OBEY/ABIDE by the Word - do what it says (refer James 1:22-25 and John 15:4). We've learned in this SOD series that putting away perversity from our lips is essential to our spiritual growth, and Lord knows I need help in that department. Anyway, aside from working on the things that we allow to depart from our mouth, we also need to make a conscious effort to extend our services and skills to those in need of them, and to commit ourselves to the spiritual laws and principles in the Bible; we should AVOID adaptation to the value system of this corrupt world - money, pleasure, and power. True faith, true spirituality, and true religion involves the belief AND practice of God's principles; the overall message in the Bible is LOVE "GOD so LOVED the world that He gave His ONLY begotten Son" (John 3:16). I know that in our current economic crisis, it is hard to fathom giving your last, and for some it's even harder to refrain from allowing perversity to depart the mouth, but giving your last dime to someone in need sets aside selfishness and watching your words puts into practice the very principles outlined in God's word.

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. We thank you for restoring our faith in our ability to use our words to produce favorable outcomes. We thank you for providing the Carp family with the comfort, peace, and guidance they require in their time of need. We thank you for opening a new door and a new chapter in Tylesha's life, providing her with advancement, and other opportunities that contribute to her overall success and prosperity. We thank you for redemption, and for the ability to reverse the negativity we once spoke into existence. Today we deny the right of the enemy to exist in our lives and for removing the heavy load that we once tried to carry alone. We thank you for deliverance from pain, suffering, debts, struggles, and worries. Father God we thank you for the ability to stand firm through the test of our trials. We thank you for the discernment to know when the enemy is afoot, and for the strength to take control through our faith-filled words. We thank you that no weapon formed against us will prosper. We thank you for your continued blessings of protection, and for the peace that passeth all understanding. We present this affirmation of faith in the name of Jesus, Amen!

~~ Tylesha ~~
"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." (Psalm 118:8)
