Remain Rooted (1/3/12)

Greetings Everyone,
Happy New Year! All honor and praise be to God for another year living. I apologize for not giving yall a warning about my absence, I was on a mini-break; know that God NEVER takes a break, so if someone isn't there when you need them, just CALL ON JESUS! Unfortunately, I've misplaced my book for this series of SODs which we will start to wrap up soon, so until I locate the focused reading, The Tongue - A Creative Force by Charles Capps, we will continue to study God's word, pray for one another, and encourage one another using the principles that we have learned through our previous lessons during this SOD series. Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcomeDo NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity, God Bless!

Passage James 3:5-8 (NLT):
"In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison."

God's word ALWAYS works, but spiritual law can work for or against you, depending on how YOU apply it. Notice how I used the focal passage from our series. Since my goal is to follow closely with the principles of the series, until we have completed it, then I shall maintain the introductory passage as well. Now I'm sure we covered tonight's passage before, but remember, that repetition is the key to memorizing, and practice is pivotal to getting it rightJames 1:22-25 says, "Don't just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it." This passage is perfect, because a few of our brothers and sisters, including myself, have read and studying the principles of "the power of the tongue," yet we continue to speak the negative aloud, and pray the problem, in turn forcing our prayers to be bound and the problem to enhance rather than desist. Reading God's word, and listening to His word through sermons is NOT good enough, we must also "OBEY" - ABIDE by the word (do what it says), and once we put into practice the lessons we've learned, so shall our growth be visible in our daily behavior and actions. "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me" (John 15:4)"remain" is translated as "abide" in the KJVthe ONLY way to lead a good life is to remain rooted in God's word by studying, and applying the Word to our daily lives

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for another year of healthy living, for forgiveness of our sins, and for an unshakable foundation in you. We thank you that no weapon formed against us shall prosper this year, nor any year to follow. We thank you that we are out of debt and our needs and desires are met. Lord we thank you for being our refuge when we have no where else to turn. We thank you for providing a solid foundation to base our lives upon. We thank you for your knowledge and wisdom, for your peace that passeth all understanding, and for revealing all things necessary for our personal and spiritual growth, and complete knowledge in every circumstance. We thank you for our husbands and wives, for strengthened relationships, gainful employment, healthy babies, unified and tight-knitted families, excelled studies, and for spiritual and financial growth. Father God we thank you for helping us to remain in your word, and abide by it. We thank you for helping us to speak those things that be not as though they were, and to have the faith in you that the victory is already won. These confessions we proclaim in the name of Jesus, Amen!
