Walk the Walk (1/9/12)

Greetings Everyone,
I am not going to lie to yall, I would much rather be asleep right now. I stayed up until midnight trying to write a paper last night, only to wake up two hours later to get ready for work. I had to submit my draft into this plagiarism program that I've never used, to allow time for the report to be generated so that I can submit my final draft on time. I have been working on team assignments, and other homework all day, and I caught no break at work today, so I am pooped, but praise God I am employed! Anyway, I need to add Britney Furbush, Carol Shelby, Calvin Blunt, Ed Bryan, and the Carp family to the prayer list; please pray as the Spirit leads, on behalf of them I extend early gratitude. Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcomeDo NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity, God Bless!

Passage James 3:5-8 (NLT):
"In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison."

Mark 7:6-9 says, "Jesus replied, 'You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’ For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition.' Then he said, 'You skillfully sidestep God’s law in order to hold on to your own tradition.'" I chose this scripture because I still have yet to locate our reading for this SOD series, so I want our intermission to still be somewhat tied in to our lessons about the power of the tongue. For those who aren't familiar with the term, hypocrisy in relation to the Word, it refers to someone putting forth the facade that they are a Christian motivated by the God kind of faith, yet their actions prove that the only faith they have is in this world, in man, and in their own likeness. Some people have this idea that they are invincible, that their prosperity is a product of their own doing which can be linked to their hard work and not attributed to God's will for them. Yet, they are up in your face "talking the talk," but when given the opportunity to love as God loves, they turn their backs and turn up their nose at your misfortune. So it is safe to say that when we allow ourselves to speak negatively, and to form words that will later manifest undesired results, that we are in fact hypocrites; to speak contrary to the Word of God is to lack faith in your God-given ability to speak life into every situation and to confess your desired results into existence.

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for your breath of life, your protection, and your peace. Lord we thank you now for the complete and speedy recovery of Carol, Calvin, and Britney; we thank you for providing them with relief from their pain in the meantime. Father God we ask that you will provide comfort, strength, and peace to Ed and his family in the time of their bereavement, and we pray that you will keep his wife's soul as it rests waiting for your return. Lord we thank you now for providing the Carp family with deliverance from the load of burdens they once carried as a family and individually; you know each of their needs, so bless them in accordance to your will. Lord we each have our individual concerns etched on our hearts, but we know that by the power of our tongue we can claim defeat over the enemy, and we may confess our desired results and praise you for the victory that is already won. So today we stand firm thanking you for triumph over our trials, deliverance from our burdens, protection from our enemies, and we rebuke all weapons formed against us, providing permission for your angels and Holy Spirit to manage our affairs on Earth. We thank you for your continued favor, and the peace that comes along with trusting in you. We submit our affirmation of faith, in the name of Jesus, Amen!
