HEALTHY LIVING TIPS:
Change begins within… STOP making excuses. If you want to feel better, look better, and be better, DO something about it. You don’t have to go hard your first day in, but it’s better if you do… “No pain, no gain.” Instead of putting your energy and efforts into the wrong things, substitute old and/or bad habits with new ones; drink more water instead of soda and juice, and/or try blending fruits and vegetables in a morning or afternoon smoothie. Add more vegetables to your diet and eliminate some of the pastas, rice, and other less healthy carbs. Or, consider substituting your normal pasta and rice for wheat grains instead. Haven’t been to church lately? Forget skipping out on another Saturday or Sunday; visit your local church or one that you’ve been considering attending, and allow the Spirit to feed your soul. God doesn’t need us, but we do need Him… He’s calling you, will you answer?

BE ENCOURAGED: If you believe in God, you can be delivered, transformed, restored, and your mind can be renewed. The rest of this day isn’t promised, let alone tomorrow, so why not strengthen your faith TODAY? Feed your body healthy nutrition, be cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirit to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.), and YOU can start anew and become a better you, NOW not later. NEVER lose sight of God in the midst of adversity… CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN. Ponder this, “Knowledge has to be improved, challenged, and increased constantly, or it vanishes” (Peter Drucker). Have a blessed weekend.

Lord please clear our minds, and open our eyes, ears, and hearts so that we may see, hear, and receive your intended message from this fellowship. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

PASSAGE – II CORINTHIANS 4:5:
“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.”

***Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible***

REFLECTIONS:
Perhaps you have heard, as I have heard, that the youth of the church today want to be heard. Perhaps we feel they deserve to be heard, or perhaps the right to be heard. And why not? Why should we consider them any less than we adults? For certainly we feel that we have the right to be heard, and deserve no less. After all, we have a voice, and it should count as anyone else’s voice, right? There is a level on which that makes sense; on which that sentiment rings true. And yet, we would have difficulty finding the idea reflected in scripture. Our rights, as they might be considered, are forfeited when we surrender to the Lordship of Christ. We are, as Christians, to be shedding the self-serving, self-seeking, slave-to-sin nature in order to take up the submissive, selfless, servant-hood to Jesus. As such, we no longer are concerned with our rights, or even our right to be heard. Instead, we strive to direct the attention of people not to our words, but toward the Word of God, so that it is He who is heard – and that He is heard clearly above the chattering of us all” (Chambers, R. (2015, May 24). Right to be heard [Web log comment]. Retrieved from http://reflections.daybyday.org/)

“The focus of Paul’s preaching was Christ, not himself. When we witness, tell people about what Christ has done and not about your abilities and accomplishments. People must be introduced to Christ, NOT to you. And if you hear someone preaching about himself or his own ideas rather than about Christ, BEWARE – He is a FALSE teacher… Serving people requires a sacrifice of time and personal desires. Being Christ’s follower means serving others, even when they do not measure up to our own expectations” (Tyndale House Publishers. (2004). II Corinthians. Life Application Study Bible: King James Version: Notes 4:5 (pp. 1749). Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.).

Have you ever heard someone rave about how their hard work got them to where they are today? I have, time and time again. However, some people will acknowledge that it was not without God’s help. Yet, there are others, such as entertainers and other celebrities, who attribute their “starting from the bottom” and getting to the top as works of solely themselves. Heck, if you listen hard enough to the trash played on the radio, then you’ll hear some of them praising the adversary instead of God, yet some of us still think it’s harmless to sing along with those lyrics; we forget that the Bible says that “those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man” (Matthew 15:18). So perhaps you may want to reconsider singing along to your favorite Weezie, Jay-Z, Kanye, Drake, Beyonce and Rhianna songs, to name a few… to get back on point, bragging or boasting about what you have done as an individual, does NOT bring honor or glory to Christ. Rather, you have just exalted yourself to a level that you do not deserve credit for. As a servant to Christ, how do you expect to lead the lost when you are still lost in self? It’s time to step down from your pedal stool, and give credit where it is due – ALL HONOR AND GLORY BE TO GOD! Without HIM, you are nothing. So the next time you call yourself giving a testimony about His works, make sure that it is derived from what HE HAS DONE rather than what you want to take credit for doing. I am NOT saying that hard work should go unrecognized, but your faith and works go hand-in-hand; if you work without faith, you bare no fruit, and “faith without works is dead” (James 2:26).

PRAYER OF THE DAY:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. Thank you for providing the courage and strength we need to remove the guilt we've placed on self, and for removing every negative thought that has held us captive in our own minds. We thank you for transforming our image into one that mirrors Jesus, so that His goodness is reflected in all that we do. Thanks for blessing us with a double portion of your Spirit, and for closing every unnecessary door that is open in our lives. Thanks for opening supernatural doors to peace, prosperity, clarity, contentment, and happiness. We thank you for providing each of us with the clear and concise revelations we need in order to overcome the adversary. Please continue to help us see, hear, and feel your presence through every trial and tribulation, and for discernment to know the difference between your will vs. our own desires. We take back everything the enemy has stolen from us, and bind every evil and malicious plot, plan and scheme devised against us, in the matchless name of Jesus. We grant your angels permission to do our bidding on earth, and thank you for protecting us from its recourse. This is our affirmation of faith Father God, we submit our petition to you, and claim all these things in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Respectfully,
