Ok, so those of yall who are closest to me know that although I was not raised Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA), I do prefer to attend services in the Adventist church; my spirit is fed best there, plus their principles of the Bible, I have both studied myself and agree with. Anyhow, the Pastor at this church I've visited a few times in Riverside, Mt. Rubidoux Seventh-Day Adventist Church, is doing another series on Why Opposites Attract (WOA). I have been trying to attend the services and have been unable to at this time, but praise God they have "video stream" on their website. When I first heard Pastor Kelly speak, it was several years ago during Convocation, and I was floored because he was my age, 26 y/o at that time, and he blew everyone away with his sermon. So I was extremely excited that he is the senior pastor at the SDA church nearest my home. Ok, I know I'm just rambling, but since we have been studying how our very own words have paved the way for our current circumstances, I thought I'd include the link to Mt. Rubidoux, so that you may check out some of the WOA sermons by Pastor Kelly for yourself. I know that The Tongue - A Creative Force is not specific to relationships in the manner to which Pastor Kelly's WOA series is, however, he discusses the 4 temperaments and the 12 blends of those temperaments that we are individually characteristic of; understanding these temperaments I believe, will truly help us expound on the message in the series we are studying in the SOD. For those who have concerns about failed relationships, I think this is also a perfect series in itself, in understanding the emotions you may be experiencing. And if you are compelled to follow along, I encourage you to, but if the Spirit only leads you to share the link with someone else, or to reveal to YOU, WHO YOU REALLY ARE, then ACCEPT that! Continue to pray and Speak the ANSWER (your desired outcome) into every circumstance, and STOP dwelling on the problem. Oh by the way, in addition to having some tests run at the doctor's office today, I'm officially a graduate student; I start working on my Masters of Science in Psychology next month, praise the Lord... anyway, Do NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. Passage James 3:5-8 (NIV):
"Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison."
"The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up..." (James 5:15). Learn to operate in the ABILITY OF GOD. Release the ability of God IN YOU, by the FAITH FILLED WORDS of Your mouth. If you could control the tongue, you would not have any trouble with the body; Your body obeys the command of your mind, and the body must be trained to act upon the word of God. When you start using words to put you over instead of allowing them to hold you in bondage, they will work for you. Now please understand that your words aren't going to start working by saying them once, NO! So far in this series, I have stressed the importance of CONFESSING the things you DESIRE, NOT the problems that exist. The example the book uses, is how people speak gluttony into their lives, such as saying things like "I'm full, but I still want a slice of pie. I'm going to be big as a house." Although some may be able to better relate to that analogy, I'd prefer to use relationships, because that has been the thing that has brought the most anguish into my life. Notice I used the term "has," PAST TENSE; I will reverse all the negativity that I once spoke into my life, by the eye of faith and the word of God, I claim that all my undesired outcomes are now favorable ones in the name of Jesus. Due to an immense desire to avoid loneliness, I have substituted what felt like loneliness with relationships. Each time, those relationships began surreal and eventually crumbled as a result of my choice to live in sin. Yet, each time I cried "woe is me" as I sat in self-pity speaking that, "I'm getting old, I'm not married yet, and what if by the time I get married, I can't have children." Ya know, each failed relationship shaved off years that I could've used building a healthy marriage with THE MAN GOD CHOSE for me. Who knows, he could've walked right past me years ago but went unnoticed because I was dedicated to a relationship destined for failure. That was me confessing my fears and allowing them to manifest. The Lord however, always spoke to the problem - He spoke to the desired (end) results. The word says, "Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of" (Matthew 12:33-34). This is TRUTH at its best. What YOU speak out of YOUR mouth is because it is abundantly in your heart. Notice, in this series, I have shifted from the frequent use of the word "we," and have made the SOD more individualized by using "you." The reason I am doing this, is because although this series is critical to us as a whole, it is imperative for us to see that "we" cannot change the words that depart from YOUR mouth, only YOU have the power and ability to do that. The enemy CANNOT put anything on you without your consent. Yes, you taste, touch, feel, hear, and see things a certain way, but that's why you need to STOP living by your five senses, and PROGRAM yourself by the WORD. 1 Peter 2:24 says, "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." All negativity died on the cross with Jesus, so although the terms in this passage read "ye were healed," it is safe to assume that we are NOT just limited to a physical healing, but we are also relieved from spiritual, emotional, and mental anguish, but ONLY when we take a stand as individuals to DENY the right of problems to exist in our lives. You can have what you say, so STOP speaking the WRONG things into existence; STOP speaking your UNDESIRED outcomes and SPEAK THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART into existence, as they fall in line with the Word of God. Lord we thank you for life, health, strength, and your continued protection and grace. We thank you that no weapon formed against us will prosper, and for the ability to keep smiling despite the enemy's efforts to keep us blind-sighted. Lord we thank you that even though the doctors say "no," you continue to say "yes." We thank you for your complete restoration and healing of our spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical being. We thank you for continued education, new beginnings, necessary endings, and total deliverance from the burdens that once held us captive. We thank you for gainful employment, financial stability, job security, and tranquility in all facets of life. Father God we thank you for all of our blessings both going and coming, and for your continued blessings that allow us in turn to be a blessing to others. In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen!
