Greetings Everyone,
Praise be to God! I hope yall had a relax-filled holiday weekend. It was brought to my attention last week that sometimes the SOD can appear to be a little contradictory; I seem to come off as Dr. Jekyll and Hyde if you will, which is not my intent. As I explained to the individual who raised this concern, I deem it beneficial and necessary to share my frustrations and personal trials, because one, when I pass my tests, it will then become my testimony. Second, my personal accounts may not be relatable to all, but at least one person will benefit from my story. I can tell you from personal experience, conquering your trials can feel like a lonely journey, and hearing others' experiences may provide relief, hope, and encouragement to keep on keeping on. For me personally, a Pastor, mother, sister, brother, father, and/or friend can give me any advice they want, but unless I feel like they have personally experienced what I am going through, it means nothing. My story helps the reader know that I have or am going through the same struggle, but with GOD, I am victorious! Remember we are praying and saying the ANSWER, not the problem. Do NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. God Bless!
Passage James 3:5-8 (NIV):
"Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison."
Ok, so, we have discussed why our prayers have seemed to go unheard, what we need to do (say) to reverse the "curse" of our negative words, what it means to have the God kind of faith, how to develop that kind of faith, and how to make it work for us. But now we need to talk about how to plant that seed. God has provided us with the knowledge (seed) to go forth and be fruitful by the very own words of our mouth, but what good is it if we do not put it into practice (plant it)? If we had a truck full of seeds and chose to praise God for that seed, believed in those seeds, yet failed to plant them, how would anything begin to harvest? We all know that God is able, satan even knows that, but we gotta start coming into agreement with that; prayer does NOT make faith work, but THE POWER OF OUR WORDS BACKED BY FAITH IS WHAT WORKS! Faith will make prayer work, but prayer WON'T make faith work; faith can work without prayer, but prayer will NOT work without faith. Now understand that I am NOT saying that things will transform over night, NO. Change will not come by your 2-3 confessions, NO; We must CONTINUALLY AFFIRM (declare) what God's Word says until it gets into our spirit and become a part (one) of us. The word of God "engrafted" (infused) in your spirit, will deliver you from every circumstance of life (refer to James 1:21). The Word is the final authority, so NO matter how big your mountain (problem) looks, do NOT be moved by what you see, BE MOTIVATED BY WHAT YOU BELIEVE. The word says that we can have what we say, that we can tell the mountain "be thou removed," and it shall obey, but do you actually believe that to be true? Just because you have accepted Christ in your life and are now "re-born," understand that the transformation is NOT immediate, for our flesh is NOT saved, our mind is NOT saved, but it is OUR SPIRIT THAT IS SAVED. We were reborn (created the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ), with God on the INSIDE. God gave us salvation, but it is up to us to permeate outward, and allow the Spirit to bring the body into subjection. The body doesn't always want to participate in the desires of the spirit; we must humble ourselves and become dedicated in the Word, in fellowship, in the Church, and in the Spirit. In order for us to fully grasp the Word of God, apply it, and truly understand it, our body (flesh) must be disciplined in the Word. Galatians 5:17 says, "For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want." Either you will allow your spirit or your flesh to dominate your actions, being born-again suggests that the spirit shoulddominate. If your spirit doesn't have dominion over the body, this is because you have failed to act on what you know (planting the seeds). Jesus said that we can have whatever we SAY, if we do NOT doubt, and BELIEVE in our heart the things that we speak. In James chapter 3, the Word says, that if we do NOT stumble in our words, that we will be able to bring our whole nature into obedience. If we don't start saying things in FAITH concerning that which we believe in, then we cannot expect to operate in faith in those areas. II Corinthians 4:13 says, "'It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak..." God never did anything that He didn't say first. He said it, then He did it; the power to do it was in the Word. We cannot expect to be fruitful (successful) if we do not first plant the seed (speak the Word in faith); "speak those things that be not, as though they were" (Romans 4:17). (Capps, Charles. The Tongue - A Creative Force. Tulsa, Oklahoma: Harrison House, 1976.)
Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and the healing of our mind, body, soul, and heart. Lord we thank you for the discipline to gather and plant the seeds of our words to allow that power to work for us. Father we thank you for keeping us completely open to receive our full blessings, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding from you. Father God we thank you for holding the enemy accountable for his/her attacks against us. We thank you for keeping us filled with your presence, filled with your peace, and filled with constant happiness. Father God we thank you completely restoring our broken relationships at home, at work, at school, and in our personal affairs. We thank you for your continued protection, love, and grace. We thank you for forgiveness, and we thank you that we are no longer haunted by our past guilt, pain, and sorrow, but instead we rise, and we lean unto you for comfort, healing, happiness, and tranquility. We thank you for the victory and understanding of every circumstance, and we thank you that no weapon formed against us will prosper, in the matchless name of Jesus, Amen!
