Action: Consequence (6/18/13)

Greetings Everyone,
All honor and glory be to God! Hope yall had a wonderful weekend. I know that some of yall may have assumed I fell off the wagon again, but that is NOT the case. As previously mentioned, I was ripping and running to prepare for my commencement ceremony that took place last Saturday. I should’ve returned Monday, but didn’t sleep well Sunday night, so I opted to rest when I got home yesterday. My fault, I am working to steer clear from adopting such unproductive habits. Anyway, last week a co-worker asked me to lift up her family member, Tony, who has been suffering from mysterious health ailments that his doctors cannot pinpoint; let us pray for complete and speedy recovery. Also, my friend Heather whose mother Carol is now in hospice, was offered care, free of charge until her passing; this is a blessing but also a burden to the members who will be in mourning as she reaches her last hours. Please keep Heather, Carol, and the rest of their loved ones lifted in prayer as well. As we continue to work together to spread God’s Gospel, let us also encourage one another to take steps that lead to a healthy overall mind, body, and soul. What have you fed your body today? What things have you allowed your mind, eyes, and ears to partake on? What has your Spirit devoured today?

I once fasted from secular music for a month. I only listened to Gospel and Classical tunes, and I must admit that my mood and attitude were a lot more mellow, and my patience was even heightened during that month. As I began typing this lesson, my TV was running in the background, because I prefer noise while I work. Anyway, Bad Girls Club Battle or something like that was on the screen. I had decided to pause it and pray so I could get to my lesson, seeing as how I had been sitting here typing one sentence for an hour, distracted by the garbage in the background. Then I thought about what I am encouraging yall to do, and decided to shut off the TV altogether, giving my undivided focus to God. With all the other distractions in our lives, God is supposed to be FIRST, and then everything else is to follow. Why is it so hard to allot God some quality time throughout your day? After all, it is He who has provided eternal life, it is He who forgives again and again, and it is He who provides the best refuge. The ONLY obstacle in your way is YOU, so figure out what YOU want to change in your life; there is NOTHING TO IT BUT TO DO IT! If you want a different outcome in your life, you must do something differently. I am working on self just like you, so hit me up if you need someone to personally walk with you on your journey to better nutrition, more productive activities, and a deeper walk with God. TOGETHER we can transform our bodies, minds, and souls. But, CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN, so START YOUR TRANSFORMATION TODAY, because tomorrow is NOT promised. Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcomeDo NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity, God Bless!

Passage James 3:5-8 (NLT):
"In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison."

For those of you just joining us, or those of you returning, we have completed the "power of the tongue" series, and moved forward with addressing each of the daily affirmations of faith listed at the back of the book, The Tongue - A Creative Force written by Charles Capps. I recommend that as you follow along with these daily confessions, you choose those that are most suitable for your circumstance, and repeat them three times daily like a dose of medicine. When man says "no," our Father in Heaven has the authority to still say "yes." As a refresher: the daily confessions are listed in the previously mentioned book under specific categories in which I will list in bold, followed by the italicized affirmation of faith, and concluded with the scripture from which it was derived. You are more than welcome to send an email request for past lessons and/or a complete list of the daily affirmations of faith, or simply check my blog (listed in my signature), thanks.

For Material Needs:
"Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law. Christ has redeemed me from poverty, Christ has redeemed me from sickness, Christ has redeemed me from spiritual death" derived from Galatians 3:13 and Deuteronomy 28 (Capps, 1976, p. 153).  Reference: Capps, C. (1976). The Tongue - A Creative Force. Tulsa, Oklahoma: Harrison House

As you can see, we have begun a new dose of spiritual medicine – the next faze of our daily affirmations. True, nothing we collect in the flesh can be carried with our spirit during our passing, but that does not mean that we do not possess material needs. As human beings on this wretched Earth, we are in need of employment to pay bills – shelter, food, clothing, transportation, etc. So why not add this dose to our daily affirmations? Well, this affirmation of faith is similar to the one we discussed in the SOD entitled “6/6/13 – Claim success NOT failure,” except, this one is not focused strictly on the body, rather our overall well being – our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. In Deuteronomy 28, the Bible reveals that the key to our full blessings revolves around our own willingness to AVIDE by God’s will for our individual lives. Through our OBIDIENCE to God’s commands, we are afforded deliverance, restoration, and salvation. On the other hand, through blatant disregard for God’s will in your individual lives, presents specific ramifications; for every action is a consequence, do you choose everlasting life or eternal death?

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for this day, and ask that you will forgive everything we may have thought, said, or did that was not pleasing in your sight. We thank you for providing a solid foundation to base our lives upon, and for the peace that passeth all understanding. We praise you for our ability to use your Word as the stabilizing force in our lives, to claim and accept the authority to rebuke the rulers of the darkness of this world; through the words of our mouths, we take back everything the devil has stolen from us. We cancel every plot, plan, and scheme the enemy has devised against us in the matchless name of Jesus, and declare that no weapon formed against us will prosper. Today Father God we thank you for blessing Carol with free hospice, and for removing any discomfort she may be experiencing at this time. We also thank you for providing Heather and other loved ones with the strength and peace to endure whatever final moments with Carol, that you bless them with. Father we also ask that you will reveal to Tony’s doctors what is trying to attack his body, but before it can render another blow, we ask that you provide relief; reverse all ailments and restore his health completely. We thank you for helping us to set the example for true Christianity, and for allowing your angels to do our bidding on Earth without recourse. We thank you in advance that our needs and desires are met. We submit this affirmation of faith in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Respectfully,
Tylesha "Tye" Allen
