Give Cheerfully (6/24/13)

Greetings Everyone,
All honor and glory be to God! Hope yall had great weekend. Praise God we are blessed to see another week. I saw a post from an old co-worker of mine on Facebook that kind of troubled me. Although it was posted on an international website, I am not so sure how private his issue may be. So, I will just ask that you pray for Alan Yao and his family, as the Spirit leads. Also, please pray for new mothers and fathers, and those who are soon-to-be, that God will provide their paternal and maternal instincts immediately after birth. Thank you. As a reminder, please do not forget the others we have mentioned recently, as well as those who may request special prayer, or those you may have thought strongly about: Carol, Tony, Heather, Antonio, Nicole K., Nicole W., Hair, Carmela, and Keona. As we continue to work together to spread God’s Gospel, let us also encourage one another to take steps that lead to a healthy overall mind, body, and soul; TRANSFORM your body, mind, and soul by feeding your body healthy nutrition, and being cautious of what things you allow your eyes, ears, and spirits to be exposed to (e.g. media, books, TV, music, etc.). Have you fed your spirit today? CHANGE BEGINS WITHIN, so START YOUR TRANSFORMATION TODAY, because tomorrow is NOT promised. Continue to keep one another in prayer, thanking God for the victory, and refraining from claiming defeat from the enemy; ALWAYS pray for your desired result, NOT the unfavorable outcomeDo NOT lose sight of God in the midst of adversity. God Bless!

Passage James 3:5-8 (NLT):
"In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison."

For Material Needs:
"With what measure I mete, it is measured unto me. I sow bountifully, therefore I reap bountifully. I give cheerfully, and my God has made all grace abound toward me and I having all sufficiency of all things do abound to all good works,” derived from II Corinthians 9:6-8. (Capps, 1976, p. 154). Reference: Capps, C. (1976). The Tongue - A Creative Force. Tulsa, Oklahoma: Harrison House.

II Corinthians 9:6-8 says, “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” I like this passage. You ever have someone do something nice for you out of the “kindness of their heart,” yet every chance they get, they throw in your face how much money they spent on you, or compare what monetary things you have done for them, to those they have done for you? Doesn’t it make you wish they had never done anything nice for you at all? It does for me... I put special thought into the gifts I get for my loved ones, and although it gives me pleasure to see their happiness upon receiving said gift, I do NOT expect anything in return. On the other hand, giving to my loved ones does NOT render the same delight as giving to a stranger in need. Regardless, this scripture reminds us that we will be blessed according to our good works – what we put into life, we will get in return. It also warns us to do things with a cheerful heart and with trust in our God. It is my interpretation that this passage is relative to the book of Leviticus, which speaks about God’s people giving 10% of their EARNINGS back to the Lord. In biblical times, obviously, that was a reference to cattle, grain, and such. Today, we work for money; therefore it is our tradition to give back 10% of our paycheck, for those who do tithe. Me personally, when I am a faithful tither, I notice that I am always blessed in good measure, and am often blessed unexpectedly and abundantly. However, the times that I fell off the wagon out of fear of paying my mortgage, utilities, and other important miscellaneous bills, I would actually find myself in increased financial binds. For over a year, I did not pay tithes because I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to pay all of my bills. Then, I found out that someone who had mocked my tithing for many years, had began to form a relationship with Christ, and in-turn began to tithe himself. I was encouraged, and resumed faithful tithing. In a short time, I found myself ahead of my bills at times, and my bills have lowered significantly. My mortgage was never extremely high, but it decreased from $1,078, to $949, a blessing in itself... The jest of it all is, I give back to my Lord in faith and without expectation, and in return, my bills are always paid in full. I am even able to help others financially, from time-to-time. Don’t be ashamed if all you have to offer is a penny, or just your services. Giving back does NOT have to be limited to monetary contributions; if your talent is singing, use your voice to bless others; if your talent is drawing, use your art to bless others; if your talent is writing, use your words to bless others; whatever your talent(s), use it/them to be a blessing to others.

Prayer of the Day:
Father God we thank you for life, health, and strength. We ask for forgiveness of everything that we have thought, said, or did, that was not pleasing in your sight. Father we ask that you will lift up Alan and his family according to your will; mend any broken bonds, and heal all wounds. Lord we would also like to lift up all the new mothers and fathers, and those who will be fathers and mothers soon; help shape them into great parents, and establish their maternal/paternal instincts right away. We ask Father that you do not forget those whom we have lifted previously in prayer – you know their individual needs and desires, bless them as you see fit. Place in us a cheerful and giving heart, that we may use whatever talents, services, and/or whatever monetary capabilities available, to freely and willingly bless others. We thank you for redemption, restoration, deliverance, salvation, and for the ability to reverse the negativity we once spoke into existence. Today we deny the right of the enemy to exist in our lives. We praise you for our ability to use your Word as the stabilizing force in our lives, to claim and accept the authority to rebuke the rulers of the darkness of this world; through the words of our mouths, we take back everything the devil has stolen from us. We declare now that no weapon formed against us will ever prosper, and we petition defeat over our adversaries, binding every evil and malicious plot, plan, and scheme devised against us. This is our affirmation of faith Father God; we submit our claim to you in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Respectfully,
Tylesha "Tye" Allen
